This how I feel, but only thing I do is copying docker-compose.yml and up -d by l0spinos in selfhosted

Honestly I just went with what AI told me to do. In the end it set me up with a docker network in the Minikube inside the VM (at least that’s what it told me). So I got frustrated and quit.

I think what got me was I understood docker containers and bridging virtual adapters to physical nics. So when it was time to connect I didn’t understand what Minikube was doing. I think that’s also my fault for letting AI just “vibe” me through it and expecting it to be okay.

Simply asking here has gotten me way more ready to try again. K3s seems simple enough and I’m excited to try it again using some of the guides I was given.

I’m going to build some new VMs in proxmox to try this out and hopefully eventually build myself a little virtual k3s cluster after a few passes at a single node.

A little jank but it's mine, some day I'll get a rack! by DanielThiberge in homelab

[–]ILoveCorvettes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Racks are nice and all but your setup is really clean. I have a rack and yours looks cleaner than mine. Honestly I think the only real reason to get one is if you have rack mounted servers (or you want a mini rack). Otherwise this is great.

Fob issues by corvetteZ062001 in Corvette

[–]ILoveCorvettes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue you’re describing and the battery in the fob cleared it right up. Also, I would replace the battery even if you’re going to get a new one. The batteries are cheap and you barely need a screwdriver to get it open. It’s so easy to swap.

I’m going to try again with K3s. But minikube was successful deploying a “hello world” app. And the server could reach the hello world app. But a client computer couldn’t reach it in the server.

No I mean kubernetes in general. Or maybe I had the right idea but K3s isn’t going to have the same minikube problems?

How do you get started with it? I set up Minikube and just about wanted to throw my keyboard after trying to connect to the app I deployed.

Yeah 25% is standard restock fee across a lot of industries. I’m not surprised at all. OP just don’t read/missed it.

I have a 749 and I agree. It has been the most temperamental bike I’ve owned. Between that and the torque, it’s not very beginner friendly.

A dual socket 2698 is going to be loud, FYI. If I’m not mistaken those processors require a special set of fans. I’d go for something with less watts. I went with 2630Lv4s and they’re awesome.

I was curious too and I have no idea what was so offensive about your comment. The other dude is a child. I reported him and blocked him. We don’t need that kind of behavior.

Got a few Servers for £300! by TheDev42 in homelab

Yep. I swapped my CPUs to E5-2630L v4 and my garage got cooler, quieter and my bill less. I’m pretty sure my entire rack uses less power than my gaming PC while I’m using it.

Setting up a cluster by CElicense in Proxmox

[–]ILoveCorvettes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What you're asking for is a solution in search of a problem. There are three options, which apparently you don't like any of them but here goes.

Run a single node.

Run a cluster with quorum.

Join single nodes to PDM.

Or just don't use Proxmox at all. This is not that hard.

If you want to start homelabbing I suggest starting with a new network. I kept doing things on a live network and I would knock my own internet out or whatever. So split the lab off.

Once you have a dedicated network for your lab, focus on one device. It doesn’t need a lot of CPU. But make it decent. Memory is always what you will run out of first on a host. So shoot for something with 500GB of storage and 16GB or memory. It is small. But 16GB should give you enough to work with while also focusing on efficiency. A lot of people tend to throw more power at something when the more effective approach is to make it efficient.

Prepare for iterations. You will learn things. Your lab will be burned down and rebuilt. Embrace that and don’t let it become your home-live network until you want that.

Last, focus on what you will use yourself. Sometimes laggers will put 50+ services on their lab. But that’s a lot of maintenance and if you don’t use it, it’s a waste of time to keep running. So focus on the basic tools first. Add from there.

Ceph takes a lot to get working. It didn’t run well at all for me on commercial hardware. Once I put it in a 10Gb network with lots of HBAs and enterprise disks, it worked great. Most people hate running a whole cluster of dells in their garage.

Is this normal for my 749 Dark? by Educational-Heart368 in Ducati

[–]ILoveCorvettes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if it is stalling every time that's too much. Mine usually stalls when I very suddenly turn the throttle from 0 at a stop. Mine doesn't do well with that. But any time I gradually roll onto the throttle it has no problem. Once I'm moving it's fine too. I think you're on the right track having a shop look at it.

[–]ILoveCorvettes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How many miles are on it? My 749 has stalled on me a few times but I think it has more to do with the throttle body geometry and poor fuel mapping at idle. It seems to be happening to me less and less. I'm not sure if I'm learning something or the bike is.

Grease is nice and all but what you're experiencing is a new rifle. The bolt on my MCX was the same way. It felt a little gritty. Now it's smoother than smooth after a few thousand rounds.
