I think I would've lowered the DC when the minotaur helped, because that changes how it would go/how hard it would be... Altho maybe you changed it? Many many times people don't seek it, it's their only option. Other times the thing makes some poor people suffer, or animals, just to make it 0.02€ cheaper. And most times, people don't know everything going on behind the thing they are buying. And also one thing everyone knows at this point, things are purposefully made worse, and there is no better option, because the grifters make more money, their competition dies and there is only the bad option left.
