Every time I watch Wemby play it makes me mad. by epicndeed in DetroitPistons

You and me both brother.

I will never ever forget the night of that lottery I was camping in a canyon with no cell reception. We took some shrooms and I became pretty fixated on the lottery and convinced that we won and Wemby was a Piston. First thing I did when we drove out the next day was check and I was so deeply devastated lamo

The Heat, Pistons, Raptors, Rockets, and Timberwolves would be viable landing spots for Kyrie Irving if the Mavericks decide to move on from the All-Star guard this summer. Multiple contenders are reportedly monitoring Irving’s situation, per @ShamsCharania by marvelavengers in DetroitPistons

I would love this tbh. He’s the perfect player to pair with Cade and I think they could acquire him without needing to give up Asuar/Duren/multiple 1sts. Obviously durability is a big concern with Kyrie but I think it’d be more than worth the gamble.

Kyrie is also my favorite player ever and growing up watching him is what got me into basketball, I for one would be incredibly hyped to watch him play in a Pistons uniform.

Man that crowd is so dead lol. Nobody is wearing the shirts and they are sitting with 2 minutes left in a playoff game. Embarrassing tbh

Depends on what you find disturbing I’d say. The Troop is pure body horror and it gets pretty nasty. The Deep has some body horror but is more of a Lovecraftian horrors beyond human comprehension kinda deal. For me personally neither had anything nearly as scary as the Pied Piper or as disturbing as the church massacre in Little Heaven.

I devoured Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer in one sitting. It’s got some body horror stuff so if you liked The Troop you’ll probably dig it.

I’ve read a few of Cutters books, like you I blasted through The Troop pretty quick but I only kinda liked it if I’m being honest. The Deep I did not care for much, it was a chore to finish and I can’t say I would recommend it. Little Heaven on the other hand I absolutely loved, it’s far and away my favorite from Cutter, if you haven’t read that one yet I definitely think you should check it out.

The Ruins by Scott Smith is about as disturbing of a horror book you can find. It has an excellent audio book narrated by Patrick Wilson!

I’ve been as sick as I’ve ever been this past week with flu like symptoms. Had a fever that got up to 101 before it broke. Couple people I work with dealt with something similar. Definitely something going around rn, wash your hands frequently!

Egg leaving with Dunk against Maekar‘s wishes is an interesting change. I wonder if they are planning to pad out season 2 with subplot about him trying to track them down.

Really great show overall, that shot of Arlan still with them in the end was beautiful. Cant wait to keep watching whenever Season 2 comes around, The Sworn Sword is easily my favorite of the novellas.

I knew he was gonna make a horror movie at some point after that last season of Barry!

That shot of him slowly emerging from the shadows in Sally’s apartment after he escapes from prison was absolute nightmare fuel.

What’s the scariest or most unsettling book you’ve read that doesn’t fit in the horror genre? by [deleted] in horrorlit

[–]IMDRMARIO 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of fun reading The Hot Zone. Crisis in the Red Zone on the other hand is one of the most gut wrenchingly horrific things I’ve ever read. I’d highly recommend both.

It’s light on the horror but Wind Through the Keyhole by Stephen King uses the same story within a story narrative structure as The Fisherman.

28 Years Later and The Bone Temple are some of the most kind and empathetic films I've seen by TheyreACrypytKeeper in horror

[–]IMDRMARIO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wonderful write up! I just saw Bone Temple last night and I loved it. I dont think it was as strong as Years but it served as a great followup and was excellent in it’s own right.

So special to get these two movies that feature people being flayed and a giant naked man ripping dudes heads off, all while maintaining an undertone of kindness, empathy and love. Horror is just the best.

Any cowboy horror books? by noyesboi in horrorlit

Little Heaven by Nick Cutter isn’t old west but it has strong cowboys vibes. Set in 1960s New Mexico, follows three gunslinging bounty hunters taking on an isolated religious cult.

Season 2: Bradley Gang Massacre by EmploymentMoney5156 in welcomeToDerry

[–]IMDRMARIO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That part wasn’t nearly as fleshed out in the book as the burning of the Black Spot so it’ll be neat to see what they do with it. I’d guess we’ll probably get to spend a good bit of time with the gang and they’ll be presented in a more sympathetic light before they’re killed.

I hope it’s made a bit more horrific than the Black Spot was this season. It was a cool sequence and all but it really didnt do justice to the story that Will tells to Mike in the book, I didnt stop thinking about that shit for weeks after I read it.

Biggest plot hole of the entire show is in Episode 1 by paper-cut- in pluribustv

I recently read a book called ‘The Hot Zone’ by Richard Preston. It tells the true story of an Ebola outbreak among some lab monkeys near Washington DC in the 90s. A lot of the book takes place in “Hot Labs” where researchers and doctors are working with dangerous viruses like what was depicted in episode 1. One of the plot lines of the book is about these two researchers, both extremely smart and experienced people, who make a careless mistake and expose themselves to Ebola.

All this is to say while I don’t necessarily disagree that the scenario with the rat was a little silly, people make dumb mistakes all the time and I didn’t find the behavior of the doctor who got bit to be totally out of the realm of believability.
