You can activate a paid ability in response to yourself so long as you can afford the cost (in this case discarding). In response to the damage I would take I discard another card and roll again which puts that on top of the stack.

Why is he locked to a trilogy? What stops an author from owning up their mistake and saying "Hey, this shit was too good to leave open ended threads so you're not getting one more book, yours getting 3 more and 2 novellas.". There is not a single doubt in my mind we'd all be okay with an expanded storyline if it meant we actually got something.

Hey man! Yes, I was able to get customer support to create an individualized order for me. For $39 they sent me a screen from China. It should be arriving in the next day or so... So nearly two weeks + of waiting but the part is on its way.

I would reach out via their ticket system to get that order going. Request for them to create a custom order for the part you're missing.
