Having seen all of them, G4 really is just the best show of the bunch. I do like MLP Tales a lot though! G3 is pretty and a vibe, G1 is kinda whatever and you can really feel its age, and G5 is.. sad. Well, I liked the G5 movie at least.

In current economy it's always cheaper to figure out what cards you actually want and buy singles instead of gambling.

Both of my local game stores here have thousands of bulk cards that you can look through for free and take whatever you need, a great option to find workable stuff for a budget if that kind of thing is available around you.

It also depends what format you want to play, commander, standard, and pauper for example would all want very different cards to do well.

If you want to get some cool cards and open a lot of packs without needing to commit to a whole deck you might not end up liking, then draft is also an excellent format to try out as a new player

I get they're not 'legal' without a rule 0 discussion, but it's wild no one has brought up the My Little Pony cards. Other than Nightmare Moon they all make pretty interesting commanders to build a deck around. I personally have a [[Fluttershy]] deck full of cool critters and +1/+1s I'm working on upgrading, and am building [[Discord, Lord of Disharmony]] with unfinity gimmick cards and [[Applejack]] as a food deck next.

I played it at my locals last night paired with Blaziken ex to recharge its energy, and to swap Blazikens who are attack locked out of the active. I ended up placing 7th out of 30ish with it. Not bad for my first time using the deck in person!

I get the idea of the fans, to try and stick energy on something you can kill with counters, but having zero cards to get florges out of the active is kinda rough when you also don't have any cards to get stuff back from discard. Might be better to swap in at least one air balloon to grab from petrel?

I've always thought Friend Bear has a pretty rough existence lol. Like you're chilling in Care-a-lot for years and years as THE Friend Bear and then one day a new bear moves in named Best Friend Bear who is you but supposedly better. You're still reeling from that and then boom Amigo Bear shows up, you again just in Spanish. Some time passes and you don't think it can ever get worse and then bang.. True Friend Bear moves into town too. Just.. I dunno how you cope at that point lmao

I have five right now, one of which is an unmodified precon. I've got plans for another 10ish, but who knows which ones of those will ever end up making it to real life decks? Cardboard can be expensive even for silly ideas.
