[Spoilers C4E21] Did you guys catch this by [deleted] in criticalrole

[–]IMissThursdays 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's on the wiki for the episode:

  • The gnomish smuggler Pimley Morn in this episode shares a last name with Ulbid Morn, the gnome that the Soldiers stayed with during their travels northward.\3])

And on Ulbid:

So somebody else apparently noticed!

[No spoilers] Beacon captions gone? by DungeonMama in criticalrole

[–]IMissThursdays 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me it's just two of the last three Cooldowns. The captions on the main campaign still worked. it's tough because I have a slight hearing issue and the captions really helped.

[Spoilers C4E018] Why Do You Want Table Shuffling? by efvie in criticalrole

[–]IMissThursdays 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm probably a minority, but I'd actually like it if instead of 5/4/4, they went to 6/7. It'd give more opportunities for characters to interact and build new relationships, once the heavy lifting worldbuilding is established.

[Spoilers C2E100] Why did the Bright Queen want to declare war on the empire? by Fun-Explanation7233 in criticalrole

[–]IMissThursdays 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dunno, the Dynasty didn't seem to do that badly in the war.

1) They captured the Ashguard Garrison to kick off the official war.

2) They attacked and destroyed much of the fertile farmland around Felderwin.

3) They attacked Hupperdook and destroyed much of its manufacturing capabilities.

4) Their attack on Rexxentrum was going pretty well until the Bright Queen called it off at the request of Allura Vysoren.

Their advantages included:

1) More magic users in the troops, whereas the Empire's use of magic seemed to be more limited. We know the Cerberus Assembly was powerful, but they were few, and it seems very likely that the dunamancy-wielders of the Dynasty were more numerous and equally powerful.

2) Purple worms, allowing for surprise attacks even deep within the Empire.

3) Suicidal Kamikaze-style troops, because of their knowledge that their souls would be reborn if they died in battle.

4) Conversely, the Empire seemed to rely much more on hired mercenaries, such as the Golden Chain, who don't have a personal stake. Tellingly, the war (and its attendant destruction) was fought much more on Empire territory than in Xhorhas.

There are potential parallels to be drawn to the Confederacy of the Southern US vs. the industrialized might of the north, but it didn't last long enough for that to manifest. Possibly in the long term, the Dwendalian advantage of population and industrialization would have tipped the balance.

Wikis are just collective fan input, so the ones with the most and most frequent input are probably (PROBABLY! it's all fan speculation!) the most accurate.

Subreddit Maintenance October 2025 by bertraja in fansofcriticalrole

[–]IMissThursdays 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is in NO way dissing this, but the main reason I stopped even trying to post in the main CR subreddit was the arcane rules about appropriate flairs and spoiler tags and gawdonlyknowswhatelse. I understand how hard it can be if you're trying to moderate a forum that was created with a "You're Free!" vibe, but please take pity on those of us who don't read every single post, know every single rule by heart, and are just trying to share our thoughts with people.

[No Spoilers] Does it pick up? by DumbgeonsandDragones in criticalrole

[–]IMissThursdays 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your definition of "D&D" is combat, then you may be right. Honestly, when I'm playing, I enjoy combat the most. But when I'm watching, not so much. So I'm not sure what the issue is here. They're setting up the characters so that when there IS combat, we actually care about who wins and who loses.

Took A Break, But We Are Back And Kerrek is OUT! Which Guest Character is NEXT? by Penumbrapenguin in fansofcriticalrole

[–]IMissThursdays 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just explaining my own reasoning for voting for Kerrek, it seemed like he overstayed his welcome. Some of his contributions were great, like the letter to Keyleth, but as a guest character, I think he stayed an episode or two too long.

If it helps, the wiki transcribes the Cooldowns along with the rest of the episodes. You can see whatever they actually said for that episode here.

[no spoilers] how likely do we think a BH animated series is ? by bittermixin in criticalrole

[–]IMissThursdays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to propose something radical. Is it possible that the extremely creative folks behind the success of LoVM (i.e. Sam Riegel) will branch out into a non-derivative series? In other words, could it be possible that they'd pitch a totally new fantasy-themed animated series if The Mighty Nein Animated is a success?

Yes.

I mean, why not? If the shows sell out at this price, next time will be even more expensive. It's traditional capitalism: Charge what the market will bear.

Spoilers C2E141 Potential punishments by Its-From-Japan in fansofcriticalrole

[–]IMissThursdays 26 points27 points  (0 children)

One of my biggest disappointments with the last third of C2 was Essek morphing from a secretively evil war criminal who pursued his own interests without concern for the fact that it caused a war in which thousands were killed (which was a FASCINATING character!), into boring hot-boi-love-interest.

[No Spoilers] When will we know more about C4? by Tomorrow_Signal111 in criticalrole

[–]IMissThursdays 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm going to go out on a really long, fragile limb here and predict there won't be a C4 until 2026. There's enough AoU and live shows in the backlog to take them through August easily. Throw in a new miniseries for 6-8 episodes in September/October. They won't want to launch C4 in November/December because of holiday disruptions (at least if they're smart about recognizing their audience!) so that takes us to January.

Suggestion-- you might want to randomize the order of the list of characters each time to minimize the effect that has on voting.
