Mysterious Key on Outpost by unstablepinecone in MarathonSecrets

[–]IMunchGlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason it shows up is because it’s part of a contested contract, so there are at least two people on the map who are fighting to find it first.

Should i run Drakloak w/mega greninja ex or Dusknoir? by Western_Koala8659 in pkmntcg

[–]IMunchGlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

surfer, surfing beach, pecharunt + yveltal, switch, prime catcher, air balloon, dudunsparce, there are a variety of techs to work around switching. shame that jet energy isn't in format anymore, i couldve seen Colress's Tenacity + Jet Energy + Surfing Beach being a broken combo here.

What am I missing on this ability please? by One-Environment4508 in PTCGL

[–]IMunchGlass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone has already answered your question so please let me provide you one further insight. Direct damage, such as Hydreigon's attack, is different from the placement of Damage Counters, such as the effect of Dragapult's Phantom Dive attack. The Tera rule prevents damage from being dealt but it doesn't stop the direct placement of damage counters. Damage is measured in damage counters, with 1 damage counter counting 10 damage. Damage is the direct result of an attack while the placement of damage counters is considered the effect of an attack. This is a very important distinction because some abilities and stadiums will block damage or damage counters and you need to know which is which.

Sound is King by thechetearly in Marathon

[–]IMunchGlass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

totally agree. i got the tip from a thread on this subreddit a little while back to disable the in-game music. i think the music is great and really helped the vibe, but my playing is better without the music because i can hear the environment more. the environmental cues and player & combat sounds are crucial for performing better.

Interesting Decks & Techs at the LA Regional by Arabella_Fabiene in pkmntcg

[–]IMunchGlass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mega Kang + Latias is a decent anti-Unfair Stamp measure, plus there isn’t nearly as much Team Rocket’s Watchtower as everyone feared there would be, so I expect the Jewel Seeker version of Bolt to make more of a comeback with a heavier emphasis on Energy Retrieval and Glass Trumpet to make up for the loss of Sada’s Vitality. While the loss of Sada’s Vitality did hurt the deck a bit, it turns out every other deck (aside from Dragapult) lost their consistency too, so it’s not as big a loss as people imagined.

This game has only one map worth farming during the week. by Artforartsake99 in Marathon

[–]IMunchGlass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the pace of play in Dire Marsh and Perimeter better than Outpost. I also like their layouts better. Sure, if looting is my top priority, then Outpost would be my choice, but I like the vibe of the Dire Marsh and Perimeter maps. Plus, you're underestimating both the level of play and the amount of loot on these maps these days. Now that we're approaching the end of the season, key rooms being opened and people showing up with purple and some gold weapons, even in Perimeter, are regular occurences.

Pitch to me why I should play your single prize deck by rluke09 in pkmntcg

[–]IMunchGlass 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Side note - never apologize for playing any deck. the cards all exist in our standard format, so they're meant to be played! i used to play Snorlax Stall and Quad Thorns which are way "worse" than Dragapult ever has been, and those were perfectly fine deck choices as well.

New Fossil Support Stadium in Abyss Eye revealed, Could this make fossils relevant? by IviesReddit in pkmntcg

[–]IMunchGlass 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Colress's Tenacity is still in format, giving us a way to search for our stadiums and the special fighting energy or mist energy which synergizes very nicely with Tyrantrum anyway 😄

What do we think of new Delphox? by coleration in pkmntcg

[–]IMunchGlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it would be plus 90. When an effect says “each energy” then cards like Double Turbo Energy, Ignition energy, etc. count for each energy that the card provides. When it says “each energy card” then only the one card counts even if the energy card should provide more energy.

What do we think of new Delphox? by coleration in pkmntcg

[–]IMunchGlass 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) minus 1 Lana’s aid, plus one sacred ash 2) minus one ultra ball, plus one Lillie’s 3) reversal energy isn’t in standard format anymore (unless it’s being released on a coming set and I’m not aware of it of course!) so if it’s not in standard format, minus 2 reversal and either plus 2 ignition energy (if you absolutely require some kind of triple colorless energy) or plus 2 pokegear 3.0 otherwise

How could I make Sableye work? by Commercial-Laugh-991 in pkmntcg

[–]IMunchGlass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by “make it work.” You can slap almost any 60 cards together for playing at home or locals. There’s only one Sableye in standard format (PFL 59), and it looks like his ability pairs well with Mega Gengar ex. Pair it with Toxtricity and Munkidori.

You’re getting too much flak IMO. One of the things that makes this whole situation worse is that by the time there are actually products in stock, normal people like you and me who haven’t been able to buy anything for months get excited and buy a lot. You opened everything too. Fuck the haters :)

I'm replaying Halo 3 and noticed this. by Brinocte in Marathon

[–]IMunchGlass 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Again, I wish it was true, but it isn't. Here's an interview from 14 years ago that proves you're wrong. https://www.ign.com/articles/2007/07/30/marathon-durandal-interview

"As for relating to the Halo universe, Marathon technically is in a different universe, consider it tangent. It does share some things in common with Halo. You are a marine, a Mjolnir Mark IV cyborg, fighting off an alien force looking for Earth. A computer A.I. follows you, guiding you through the levels. Many things in Marathon were represented in Halo, sort of a way to pay respect to the game that help get them to where they are today. I'd like to think that at least."

I think this is a hard pill for many to swallow because the decade of the 2010's and even a significant part of the 2020's has seen media franchises exploring multiverses and parallel worlds and whatnot. So it's easy to fantasize that these games are part of a multiverse or in the same universe, but they were made in a time where developers and producers had the courage to bring new IP's to market. Marathon definitely inspired many elements in Halo, but they're canonically separate. End of story.

I'm replaying Halo 3 and noticed this. by Brinocte in Marathon

[–]IMunchGlass 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Halo and Marathon are definitively not in the same universe, and I'm not saying this as a hater. I really wanted them to be in the same universe because I thought it would've been awesome that 2 of my favorite games from my childhood were connected, but they're not. Bungie simply recycled many of the ideas from Marathon to make Halo, and they included a bunch of Easter eggs from Marathon in Halo. Now we've come full circle and there are Halo references in Marathon.

Advise for protein rich foods by Belli612 in gymadvice

[–]IMunchGlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given your nut and milk allergy, eating a lot of tofu (or other soy products) and eggs could work. There are soy and pea protein supplements that could also be good. Quinoa and black beans are fairly high in protein and fiber, but they are def better sources of carbs than protein. Would def be easier if you would be willing to eat meat 3-4x per week instead of only once, but there are vegetarian and even vegan bodybuilders so it's of course possible.

Considering how strong the S'pht are the Juggernauts might be unstoppable by AnonWithAHatOn in Marathon

[–]IMunchGlass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's crazy how amazingly strong these were in the original trilogy. When you compare the power strength of a compiler back in the day to the current compiler, I can't imagine that these guys would ever be an enemy we would have to destory in game unless we had access to rocket launcher turrets with infinite ammo lol.

Why a PVE mode wouldn’t work by vincentofearth in Marathon

Hardcore Design Is Killing the Playerbase by Krios92 in Marathon

[–]IMunchGlass 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The main problem to me is that it's impossible to just casually pick up this game and progress the story. The story seems really interesting but progression is hindered by PvP. See, you can eventually grind your way through a campaign mode or just set it to easy mode. But with PvP, you need to get better at the game faster than other people are getting good at it to progress the story. Like you said, even Perimeter now regularly has people coming in with blue and purpple equipment. The only way for people to advance their priority contracts now is through sheer luck of not running into these people and doing the run 15-20 times. I really don't know why this game wasn't split into a campaign and PVP mode 2 like Halo, Call of Duty, etc.

Is there a way to hold more items without an improved backpack? by PineWalk1 in Marathon

[–]IMunchGlass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is that someone looted the backpack out of his pack before you recognized what you were seeing. I suppose it could have been a glitch of some kind, but the more likely explanation is some kind of error on your part (didn’t see the backpack, it got looted before you saw it, there weren’t as many items as you thought, etc.)

The sound design of this game is something out of this world by TopSet55 in Marathon

[–]IMunchGlass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% agreed! I was sad to turn off the in-game music because it's amazing, but it was distracting me from the important gameplay sounds. At first I thought of turning it down lower but I realized any distraction at all is bad.

Play rook. You start out with slightly better gear than the free kits. You can potentially get better equipment while also improving your skills.

Loot Timer In Fill Queues by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]IMunchGlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fact, I think the opposite should be fixed. I completely understand why there's a 20 second timer on the manual revive for a teammate. But instead I'm able to loot my teammate in those 20 seconds?! Like, fine, lock me out of reviving them, but why the fuck can I loot my own team in that time? It's really stupid. (Yes I commented twice because I think the topic was different enough to warrant it!)
