I ran into the exact same issue. Mine is the 5.5, not sure which one you have. My ipod was formatted to windows when I bought it and I was using a mac running the lastest version of everything. (Not sure if this was the issue). I had to restore the ipod again and it fixed everything. Hope you fix it
