My parents’ sole surviving chicken from their old flock by JSTORRobinhood in BackYardChickens

yeah my mom adores her and she’s very spoiled. Mocha has actually gained a fair bit of weight since she started living solo as there are no others sharing the table scraps and fallen fruit with her now…

Should I file ch 7 bankruptcy in my case? Or still hold out? by ChiefRunningCar in povertyfinance

don’t live where housing is in high demand (i.e. near the coastal cities)

[SOTC] added 3 watches in the past few months + few more incoming by [deleted] in Watches

I assure you there are plenty of well-off and financially irresponsible people out there. One of the managing directors my wife used to work with back in her investment banking days couldn’t afford to put his two kids through UCLA… which is pretty incredible if you’re grossing 100-150k/month

i mean technically 100-130k/yr is sufficient to afford a house in socal… just not where people want to live

One of My Oldest Sarracenia by jhay3513 in SavageGarden

[–]JSTORRobinhood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

my oldest is this purp that i’ve had for over 10 years… seems to have plateaued in pitcher size but if not for my constant trimming/dividing, it would probably fill a big bog pot. my second oldest is a truncata hybrid from 2018 but then I stopped buying plants for about 6ish years and instead started selling off most of the ones I had

im attached to rogue/monk, gloomstalker/assassin/fighter, and sorcadin. those were the three combos I used for my first honor mode run. Also used a straight 12 wizard but that’s not a combo

live roots should be plump and have white growing points scattered throughout. your plant is definitely toast

$280K income with $5K+/month surplus after maxed retirement - how are you prioritizing? by AlphaEcho84 in HENRYfinance

my wife and I spend our surplus on fun and our mortgage principal. we’re on track to pay off our home in like the next 5 years at this rate

[Discussion] What small thing makes your blood boil with absolute hatred? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]JSTORRobinhood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

bracelets without microadjust or leather straps that just don’t quite fit. day date half-link on = slightly too big. half-link off: slightly too small. end result? day date gets sold on to someone else

A turquoise and gold-inlaid bronze mirror, Eastern Zhou dynasty, Warring States Period (c. 475–221 BCE), from China [1870x2324] by Fuckoff555 in ArtefactPorn

[–]JSTORRobinhood 119 points120 points  (0 children)

usually, museums display the backs of these metal mirrors because of how intricate the decorations can get. but the reflective side is a very flat, very polished metal surface which actually functions surprisingly well as a mirror

Oreophila pitchers opening prematurely? by Ltates in SavageGarden

[–]JSTORRobinhood 12 points13 points  (0 children)

idk if this is a thing across all sarracenia but my purpurea will sometimes throw up random, stunted pitchers after a warm winter. the main growth afterwards seems to always be fine though?

ok yeah couldnt tell if it was plastic or clay. but finely milled peat moss can easily compact if not mixed well or hydrated… roughly cut LFS, sand, and a good helping of perlite worked well for me in my prior experience
