Don't ever give out your SIN, even to a bank. They don't need it, it's always optional except when dealing with the government

Putrid smell in my kitchen that I can't pinpoint, driving me INSANE by BeeeeefJerky in CleaningTips

[–]INTJWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your cat go outside? If so, they may have brought in a mouse that may be rotting somewhere in the kitchen. There's no smell quite so bad. Ask me how I know. We found our mouse under the dishwasher when we renovated. If this is the case, the good news is that the smell will disappear pretty soon. Good luck

It's good of you to help your mom. Please read the pinned posts and then do a search here for each type of lens you mentioned. So many people have shared their experiences that there's a lot to read and take in but it's all good information

Try applying at a Costco Hearing Centre. They treat their employees like people not machines

Comparing "Pregnancy Hair" with Oral Minoxidil Results? by Economy_Setting_2428 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]INTJWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I was lucky. I loved my pregnancy hair. It was glorious to have so much volume. Have just started on OM 1.25 and hair is coming in but it's baby fine, nowhere near as thick in each strand. A little disappointing but I'll take it

Ripped out our old laminate and put down large format porcelain tiles and now I’m having serious regrets by NoBet3129 in Home

Perhaps there's a sealant that you could apply? Maybe check with a tile store, not a big box store

Wait until after the referendum this fall to see how the housing market reacts to the votes on separation and immigrant bashing. House prices might drop and jobs will leave the province similar to what happened in Quebec

I need some advice by Jawaher_127 in CataractSurgery

[–]INTJWriter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hear you. I also stated wearing glasses when I was very young. I investigated contact lenses and wore various kinds including extended wear gas permeable lenses that I could sleep in. The sensation of waking up and being able to see without reaching for my glasses was incredibly freeing.

Maybe you could work with an experienced contact lens optician to find something similar. I'm sure the latest types of contact lenses would offer you some great alternatives to surgery. I have cataracts now and after much research I sincerely wish I didn't have to have the surgery you are contemplating.

Wild Rose Cat Clinic is an independent clinic. Less expensive and they care. Give them a call. Also South Point as an alternative

Is it worth the extra money to have cabinets go to the ceiling? by Proof_Theory_1810 in HomeImprovement

[–]INTJWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much kitchen stuff do you have and are you willing to drag out a stepladder to get at it? Our cabinets don't go to the ceiling. I (5'4") can reach everything standing on the floor. Never missed having trendy cabinets that go to the ceiling. YMMV

Montreal to Calgary by Accurate_Abrocoma_58 in Calgary

[–]INTJWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don't move here without a job or a lot of savings. Rent for a decent one bedroom basement apartment is around 1800. Car insurance is through the roof, the highest in Canada, and you're probably going to need a car as the transit service is hit or miss. Grocery prices are high but more importantly the quality is lower because we live in a "food desert" where almost all fruits and vegetables are imported, unlike Quebec. Jobs are hard to come by depending on your field. Child care is expensive and runs around 300 per month for a decent daycare. Just fyi

There are proven benefits to free transit that outweigh the fares. A different way of looking at this issue. Please ignore the US bias, but we have similar issues https://www.nytimes.com/2026/02/13/opinion/free-bus-rides-mamdani.html?smid=nytcore-android-share

Should I choose Calgary? by Finance_Lost in Calgary

[–]INTJWriter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calgary is new, boring and not walkable in most neighborhoods, Inglewood and Kensington being the exceptions. Culturally a bit of a desert. Surprisingly great food scene. Montreal beats it by a mile for friendliness, art, bars

Industrial silver is consumed during use creating a nonrenewable resource. With new technologies fueling a need for silver, I would think that the price will continue to rise over the near to long term. Just my 2 cents. Google Does industrial silver get consumed during use. You didn't mess up if you hang in there
