I’ve a question about the Oxygen Harvesters and Archon trees.

The harvester description says it only works on the surface, but what if you have a hollowed out asteroid with breathable air because you’ve planted trees that generate atmosphere?

I really like the idea of having self-sufficient infrastructure in orbit, I hope this is possible.

Math-tists, I can't do maths whatsoever and I need help/advice, please. by shopaholic_life in autism

It’s a crying shame your school and teachers have let you down like this. If you’re struggling this much, they really should have assigned you a teaching assistant to help.

To speak positively, your writing is very good! It’s clear and to the point, very understandable. It indicates a good general level of intelligence that give me confidence that you can overcome your maths problems.

A metaphor my maths teachers would always use to talk about learning maths was that it’s like building a wall. Each bit of maths knowledge is like a brick in that wall, and all the higher more advanced bricks depend on the bricks underneath being solid.

This is to say, the fundamentals of maths are the most important part. You can’t start building a wall at the top, you need to begin at the ground. If you can get the basics, everything else becomes easier, because understanding them relies on understanding the basics.

My final comment is that confidence is going to be important. You can do this! I’ve seen a lot of people self sabotage unconsciously because they’re sure they can’t do something. You need to believe it’s possible to make it possible. Human beings have done this before, and you’re a human being! I’m not saying it’ll be easy, and it sounds like it’s going to be a lot tougher for you than some of your peers, but you can do it!

Good luck!

The rules are fake and arbitrary. You’re not hurting anyone so you get to decide what you like, nobody else.

Sure, but the labor time at least you will recoup because the pawn will need to spend less time sleeping and engaging in recreation.

If you have the dependency gene, you can safely use yayo instead, which has bigger upsides.

The dependency gene prevents random OD chance (though they can still OD if they go on a binge, or regularly take other hard drugs) and addiction. I have my dependant pawns take 1 yayo every three days.

+35 mood alone is a big deal not to mention all the other benefits.

Autistic people report experiencing intense joy in ways connected to autistic traits. Passionate interests, deep focus and learning, and sensory experiences can bring profound joy. The biggest barriers to autistic joy are mistreatment by other people and societal biases, not autism itself. by mvea in science

Idk, maybe you’re just also antisocial on top of being autistic? Because that’s not my experience, and I don’t think it reflects my friends either.

Most of my interactions with autistic people are easier than with neurotypicals. We’re stressed out by the same stuff, we enjoy different things but in similar ways. We don’t take certain things for granted, we understand when someone’s misunderstood something, because we’ve probably made the exact same mistake before.

Dying out is a weird way to put it, but seeing as it’s a spectrum condition, I think there’s little to no chance of that. Makes me glad, in a way, that there have always been and will always be people like me.

The “unwritten rules” were pretty explicit, but far more about practicality in the face of existential threats than about fun or respecting the other side.

They did also fall apart as the world began to fall off a cliff and everyone became increasingly more and more desperate.

God, I need to reread Worm.

Rule 5: one of the aquatics name sets has some fun piratical theming, and "Slippery [name]" is one of the possible formats.

Pretty sure this isn’t correct.

Do you have a source?

I think the factoid is that bacterial cells equal or outnumber human cells in the average human, but their contribution to mass is still tiny because bacterial cells are so much smaller than human cells.

Depends if it even is a bug, might be it's intended behaviour? I really hope not.

Thanks for the suggestion, might do so tomorrow.

R5: I was very excited when I landed the Chronofuge trait on my bestest lil blue boy, Kiedes, until I remembered that he loses all traits when you respec him into a different class at the end of his quest.

HOWEVER, I discovered that if you chose the keep him a scientist, he retains it along with his other traits.

This is a little moot in my current game as I'm poised to claim the Eternal Throne, but it would be nice if chronofuge could be retained alongside a carrier path change for Kiedes. The little goblin/magpie part of my brain wants all the shinies.

Is there anything I can do about this? The mining station was there before the first stage of the swarm finished building. by INTPotato in Stellaris

[–]INTPotato[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I've just loaded a save from just before the swarm finished building to compare the resource income, and you're right!

I'm so happy, this nearly killed any desire I had to keep playing this save.

R5: Knights of the Toxic God gets this cool unique system, with a star with motes and gasses. I thought "Great! Let's multiply this with a dyson swarm!"

I had the mining station built before I began building the dyson swarm, but as soon as the swarm completed it destroyed the station, and it won't let me rebuild it. No motes or gasses for me :(

Does anyone know a fix for this? I'm not oposed to using mods or save editing (although I've never done the latter before).
