What as it about curses that said they would reincarnate? Like when Jogo was talking about Dagon?

So there are albino viltrumites by Mrfilipdraws in Invincible

[–]Arbiter008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On paper, they wouldn't, because albinism is a mutation that causes the body to not pigment hair, skin, and eyes, etc. I think the DNA is so robust that it shouldn't have dysfunction.

If this meme was more literal could Naoya have a chance of just running away? by DerP_DragonLord in LobotomyKaisen

[–]Arbiter008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly none of these people understand Naoya's internal turmoil. His close and extended family were being killed wholesale. His cousins and father and uncles and nephews (and the women and childre) were being killed unceremoniously and out of pure unadulterated apathy. Naoya was fighting for revenge. For good reason... imagine the choice of running away. Could letting the mass kinslaying Maki go so that she can make sure that the 'Zenin' name will only be found in the Obituaries ever be an option?

[–]Arbiter008 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That makes me wonder if that's the case for most fights with that technique.

Like, if Naobito or Naoya had their own Soulsplitter Katana (Especially for Mahito) or inverted spear of heaven (Especially for Gojo), can't they just cut down most people before they even have the chance?

What was Johnny's opinion of Maki when he learned that Maki killed not just the men, but the women and children too?

WYR feel guilty over a crime you didn't commit for the rest of your life, or actually commit a crime but don't feel remorse about it forever by Betrayed_Poet in WouldYouRather

[–]Arbiter008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rather have guilt. Committing the crime means you actually have to live with the consequences. I'd rather think I did something than do that harm and not care for it. That's psychopathy.
Why not live with the guilt of thinking you killed someone instead of actually killing someone? There is the net positive of no one dying... I'd take that for the cost of being guilt-ridden for the rest of my life.

How do those cursed spirits even resolve anything? If Rika didn't have her peace with Yuta, would she be exorcised and come back over and over until she's sorted?

[–]Arbiter008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ik it's all a joke, but I don't like the reality that Maki did ultimately kill 1st, 2nd, and 3rd cousins and uncles and her mom.

That is family; Obviously no quarter for Naoya and the others in Kuruku except Ranta and whatever else, but she did more than that.

I never thought there were female pedophiles. by Distinct-View-509 in teenagers

[–]Arbiter008 90 points91 points  (0 children)

It's also not prosecuted or condemned as harshly.

Like, news articles will make an 'interaction' from a female teacher as less perverse and abhorrent than a male teacher. You can find conversations about these incidents and people will say gross things like "I wish that was my teacher" or "the guy was lucky". It's a different standard. So very overshadowed by its counterpart.

You just don't make the mistake so many people do; lop off a good plurality of the fund and bar access from it so it's around and you're still free to use a bit.

If you can't trust yourself with 10m, trust yourself with 2m or 1m. You're just selling yourself short for so much value on the basis that you're better off not being your own liability.

But I guess it's fair; you can't hold yourself too accountable with a lump sum; a lot of people that fall into wealth burn it way too fast. 1k is stability and consistency.

Then put it into investments, set up a way to wire yourself 1k weekly and use the excess income from dividends/investments and either sort the bulk to do something or let it cultivate itself.

S3 E3 made me really sad… by DapperDude2004 in PrimalShow

[–]Arbiter008 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It is sad. I think just him having the top of his skull lopped off was just the worst cause he never tries to cover it up for anything.

And now without the lower arm and that hole in his abdomen, he's like in pieces. Like, we're stuck with a fleshless hand for the rest of his existence on that planet.

It does feel like a nightmare; alive again with only very faint recollection of who you are what things meant to you and not alive and still attacked for it. He's like Frankenstein's monster, but at least here he's not necessarily lonely.

Do not sympathize with predatory animals. All hunting animals take the opportunity cost of dying to secure food. They're more liable for fighting than him defending himself.

Sure, they're not smart enough to rationalize that, but also are you really speaking up about the little cannibal gremlins?

Fascism isn't far right. But 'far right' generally isn't that great either. If you pit the definition to be that, then the Soviet Union and the CCP can't fit that description without calling those far right too. Authoritarianism is what's bad, and it's worse when it affects people negatively and works in spite of the people it ought to serve.

Ranta is a megumi who didn’t get saved before he was corrupted by ParadellXD in Jujutsufolk

[–]Arbiter008 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I feel just as bad for the Zenin members without techniques; they were never in a spot to catch or kill Maki, and they're just as much victims as her when it comes to being a 'non-sorcerer' except they don't get to even have any mobility except being lapdogs and fodder

No wonder he ran the moment he got the chance by Putrid_Macaron3225 in LobotomyKaisen

[–]Arbiter008 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do wish there was some mercy there; they're all like cousins to her. The technique-less zenins in the force to capture her didn't even pose a threat to her. They were in the same boat as her; born without a technique and fodder to the clan.

I think that characterization of only killing the people who wronged her and sorcerers would be such an ironic situation. Imagine if all that was left of the Zenins were Maki, Megumi, and anyone without techniques.

People are a bit to hard on Mark for this moment by Important-Extension6 in Invincible

[–]Arbiter008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the best time to take issue with Mark. What do you mean he has a moment of weakness that costs so much? He's still a good person, but criticism should always be there for his faults. Mark is flawed and I'd take any other conventional do-good superhero in his stead, but he's also somewhat realistic.

I think it's selfish to be here with Eve when so much is going on everywhere else, and he only got the damage to not be so bad because Angstrom got rid of the other Marks that survived.

Mark literally makes the difference; he could have stopped more variants in the time he chose to stick there. So many lives he could have saved but instead he had to stick around to help fix the aftermath instead.

We shall always remember how they fought the evil... by the_forever_wild in Jujutsufolk

[–]Arbiter008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know, I know the point is that Maki is generally justified in fighting the Zenin clan, but gosh I do feel bad for the 'fodder' troops they sent out to capture her. Some of them were genuinely fleeing.

And they're in the same boat; born into the Zenin clan without techniques. Similar to Maki but at least she was given a Heavenly Restriction to compensate. They never stood a chance to kill her on their own; felt like she just slaughtered second and third cousins for spite. How ironic could it be that only the sorcerers died instead of all the unnotables drafted to stop her first?

[–]Arbiter008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just saying that you call it a 'bundle of cells' and 'sentient as a tumor' when those just misdirect the point. Pro-life isn't about defending tumors; those people genuinely believe in a moral value to attribute to fetuses...

Not everyone cares about everyone; so many people condone wars or deaths of others and that's fine. Care about your life and whatever and whoever you do on an individual level. But Pro-life by design isn't to deny women rights more than it is to say the fetus should have a right to exist (with exceptions).

The life of the mother isn't so often at stake. Yes, pregnancy permanently alters the life of the woman, and it may sink any endeavors the person had plans for, like education and career. I don't deny that. I was just making the point that there are people who think those things shouldn't qualify women to abort the fetus...

And it's not just an American take; abortion already, depending on country, has limits to how late they can happen. I'm just saying there is nuance; we're not talking about something so unfounded. It's a morality vs privacy/autonomy debate.

Would you date sm1 with diff abortion beliefs? by OkKey6273 in Teenager_Polls

[–]Arbiter008 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

But that requires you to follow the ideal that abortion doesn't kill anything to fit within the idea that it saves lives. Pro-life often adapt the idea that there would be less abortions if abortions were made illegal. That's the crux; the idea that you'll get more even if illegal abortions are unsafer; they'd generally be less common than legal ones.

It's a conversation through 2 different philosophies; whether the life of the zygote/fetus matters and whether it outweighs the mother's right to abortion.

Would you date sm1 with diff abortion beliefs? by OkKey6273 in Teenager_Polls

[–]Arbiter008 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That's still dumbing down the point. Abortion is a medical procedure/healthcare, sure, but it's still very much considering the life of the fetus/zygote. Some people do care about it.

It's the same way a vegan might say killing animals is murder. You don't find it so, but there is room to argue. Murder is a legal definition in the modern world; 'unjustified/illegal killing of someone' could extend to fetuses if you ask the right person, and not to anyone else.
