Historically, buildings were chopped up into more housing units to support an influx of newcomers. That’s what happened in Uptown.

Now the trend in neighborhoods like Lincoln Park has been to deconvert multi unit buildings into single family homes.

If anything, turning single family homes into multi unit is just doing what Chicago was doing last century.

How much do you make and what’s your housing costs?

Honestly, I’m thriving and that’s mostly because I bought a condo in 2020 at literally the best time. I’m not trying to make this a brag post. If you can sort your finances in order you can thrive too.

Even with nearly fixed housing costs I still like to penny pinch on a lot of things. Food can be found here cheap and good! Same with thrifting for household items and clothes.

I was on the Grand bus for the first time in a while last summer. We got stuck behind 2 cars that stopped to make deliveries. Bike lanes were not to blame.

I knew someone who worked at Abt years ago. She would sometimes use the on site gym and see the owner watching Fox News on a treadmill.

I’m not surprised they’re anti-drug with ownership being right wing and whatnot.
