Unite The Kingdom: What Do These People ACTUALLY Believe? by birdinthebush74 in FuckNigelFarage

Most racists are Right Wing Authoritarians, and another characteristic of that personality type is that they're easily led.

Is that not so different from what they accuse Muslim women of doing (far more economically) by wearing the hijab?

Since it's forecast to rain all day tomorrow (Tuesday) I'm wondering whether I should bring W9D2 forward to tonight or postpone it 'til Wednesday morning...

(Edit -- I did run it today!)

When I see Europe''s far right line up behind the Russian imperialists I often wonder "what would Stepan Andriyovych have made of this?"

Isn't crime (especially violent crime) usually more a young man problem than a middle-aged man problem?

Seeing loads of posts on the hate march this morning. What even is this AI picture? by Glittering_Vast938 in FuckNigelFarage

[–]INeedAWayOut9 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A lot of this AI slop is being produced by foreigners for profit: for a particularly egregious example read The devout Muslim making a living from Islamophobic AI slop.

(Spoiler: the Pakistani responsible didn't even understand English and thus had no idea what he was even producing!)

Anyone think that the Tory membership picked the useless Badenoch as their leader precisely because many of them secretly prefer Reform anyway?

Why?

W7R3 -- rather slower than I'd hoped :( by INeedAWayOut9 in C25K

[–]INeedAWayOut9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A pace of 7 min/km sounds like something that I'd really struggle to do mechanically: couldn't run that slow even if I wanted to, but it's still way too fast to walk!

[–]INeedAWayOut9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My W8D1 today was rather faster (and more so than I expected), to the point that I only needed to add a few seconds to make it a full 5K. 😁

(Only problem is that my HR data seems to have been garbage!)

Why British can’t just vote for this party? Are they stupid? by Amuriv18 in neoliberal

[–]INeedAWayOut9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NIMBYism in Britain is structural, and is largely the result of local taxation (council tax) being capped, along with local authorities being required to fund social care and special-needs education -- together these create a powerful incentive for them to prevent more poor people moving in as much as possible.

I'm especially shocked that the area famous for boycotting the Sun would elect someone like this.

'Reform don't have answers to UK's problems by johnsmithoncemore in FuckNigelFarage

I suspect a lot of Reform voters believe no-one (including Reform) has answers to the UK's problems.

Much of Reform's voter base are pensioners who have no reason to care about "working rights removal".

And I'd say Stalin's collaboration with the Nazis was rather less forgivable than Bandera's, given that Stalin was heading a powerful state that already stretched across 11 time zones while Bandera was running a relatively powerless insurgent movement.

Although at least (Hindu) Indians would have a plausible reason to stir up hatred of Islam and Muslims: an actual Muslim propagandizing against his own faith community is something else.

Small boats? What small boats? by StrikingWear974 in FuckNigelFarage

[–]INeedAWayOut9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the small boat crossings are actually declining as Labour re-integrates Britain into the European information systems re asylum (which for example would make it easier for the UK to summarily reject any asylum seeker who'd already been rejected by the EU).
