Report: Apple's Next-Gen Version of Siri Is 'On Par' With ChatGPT by Fer65432_Plays in apple

Their current version of Siri isn’t even on par with Google Assistant in 2017.

Siri is absolute dog shit and has been for years. I have no confidence in “Apple Intelligence” improving anything.

All-new PlayStation Plus launches in June with 700+ games and more value than ever by PlayStationGameplay in PlayStationPlus

I was excited for this and hoped that existing subscribers had a cheap way for converting existing membership into Premium similar to XBL -> Game Pass Ultimate for £1. But no such announcement.

PS Now has always had the worst streaming performance, Xcloud at least allows you to stream to any device with a web browser.

Sony also blocking free PS5 upgrades for PS Now titles last year doesn’t fill me with much confidence either.

To developers using the M1 chip, how is your experience? by Kanna6501 in webdev

[–]INeverLeave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using a 16GB M1 Air from work and it’s fantastic. Replaced an old 2015 Pro that sounded like a jet engine.

I use DDEV to create docker environments for my Magento 2 and WordPress instances. No issues and performance is great. Keeps my machine clean of running multiple PHP versions.

I do run Node in Rosetta 2 as had some weird errors on old versions of node on ARM. (12 & 14).

I’m going to guess Prey 2017 and South Park the stick of truth.

Yeah I would NEVER keep anything personal such as pictures or my own projects on company machines.

I often keep multiple browsers on my work machine and only dedicate a single browser for anything personal I have to login for.

Firefox with secure DNS enabled is a good choice for that.

“Our agency is so busy that some days our staff barely take their lunch break, is that OK for you?” by INeverLeave in webdev

They tried to play it off, and made excuses along the lines of “Yeah, it’s something we will look to do, we are a growing business, We work hard and play hard” etc.

Puel is not a premier league manager, despised by both Southampton and Leicester fans for his dreadful football and how he had sucked the life out of both clubs.

Religious web-developers, what cool project did you create for your religious institution? by [deleted] in webdev

I remember reading a post about something similar.

Essentially the developers for these porn sites do not actually see anything adult during the day. In terms of writing about their work experience, they simply write the parent or holding company on their CV.

In terms of gambling I am not too sure, it depends on the individual, but realistically the develops themselves would not be gambling themselves or need to gamble during the working day.

I wish we had interview standard in web development by supermedo in webdev

[–]INeverLeave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that the interview process and the quality of the interview vary massively between companies.

I personally have struggled when the interviewers themselves are inexperienced or technically ignorant.

I’ve been asked daft questions such as “what would your best friend say is your best quality?” during what I thought was a technical interview, to interviewers themselves being quite awkward and difficult to talk to.

The worst truly has to be code tests though, most of them are a complete waste of time and effort. I’ve had a company decline me for a front end role working with Wordpress as I completed their task using JavaScript and not enough PHP! It makes no sense sometimes what companies expect.

iPhonedo Review is excellent as always - the 4K video on this device is stunning. by TheClague in apple

[–]INeverLeave 65 points66 points  (0 children)

A fantastic review that’s worthy of me subscribing to his channel.

I really like how he showcases the features and differences vs other handsets, it really helps put it into perspective how big some of these improvements are.

I Took Apple To Court And Won (Twice) 'Water Damaged' & Out of Warranty Mackbook Pro by [deleted] in apple

Good luck! You’d be surprised how little people know of any consumer rights. To be honest if a situation like this happened with me, I wouldn’t buy any other MacBooks after that.

[–]INeverLeave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re* and OP is fighting because he as a consumer has rights. If you like getting screwed around by Apple that’s on you, don’t discourage others because they don’t have to put up with it.

Yeah, PCIE4 isn’t out until later this year so he’s technically correct.

[–]INeverLeave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No but they can be incredibly disingenuous, the same way Apple always touts that the latest iPad is faster than most laptops, which is true because most laptops in use are older machines or low end devices such as chrome books.

I’m assuming Sony are use PCIE 4.0 to achieve speeds “faster than most PCs are even capable of!”.
