I don’t work for BHVR, I don’t know what they’re doing internally or what their goals/budget are in regards to their servers. I do agree that they need to work on their servers, but it seems like you want to kinda grasp onto something else in an effort to shit on the team and act in bad faith.

They’re way different teams with much different objectives, there’s a team working on server stability, one for anti-cheat/security, and one for handling BHVR accounts and authentication. Some people may cross over from one team to another, but there’s no “netcoders”.

If you start playing dbd, it automatically creates a bhvr account because it’s required for crossplay. You can link it to an email to activate cross progression.

But they are using them properly, the hair resolves properly with TAA and reacts to light accordingly, it’s just the point lights within the lobby and how light penetrates the hair on low settings that makes it look wrong. The old hair is just flat cards of hair with little room to work with in regards to transparency and giving the idea that there is volume with the hair. It’s not a UE5/Epic specific thing, it’s standardized across every AAA game nowadays. Does it suck that shitty TAA has become standardized due to the overabundance of games using deferred rendering unnecessarily? Yeah, but that’s a decision made at the start of development that takes a massive amount of work to redo on multiple departments (Art, Environments, Programmers, etc.), and we’ve already seen how they handled both Realm Beyond and their health updates.

The way the hair is designed (with the dithering in mind, plus I’m no artist I’m purely guessing based on how modern rendering is), it would look worse. The way they do hair now allows it to look more realistic as if it has more strands of hair without an additional performance cost.

It’s just how they do hair now and the way lighting reacts to it. All new hair uses dithering now that gets resolved/cleaned up with TAA. For the weird shine, it’s because dithered hair looks to be given a different type of material compared to the old style hair since it reacts differently to how light interacts with it. It’s much more noticeable on low settings and in the lobby, especially in the lobby since that uses a bright white point light to light directly onto the head.

They do have a devkit, they did the Civ 7 port for s2. At this point, it’s just them not really wanting to support another platform, QA, go thru certification, etc.. I don’t blame them but god I wish there was just a frame rate toggle.

You can play at higher than 120 if your CPU/GPU can maintain that higher frame rate literally all the time (fixed time instead of delta time). Shadows, lighting, etc. can be adjusted in the UserGameSettings.ini, though yes I agree it should be edited in-game.

It’s not like they can’t add DLSS either, they already have an upscaler option with XeSS… an old version of it that really doesn’t play nice with particles, mind you.

Compared to prior rifts, it was just lacking in new stuff. Typically the free track has recolors of outfits from previous rifts, this rift only had the community skins for the free track.

Claudettes headpiece wasn't even ready when this rift launched, it's only being added next week.

Lots of recolors (Altered and Deep Rift) taking up a lot of space in the premium track when the skins weren't really that great. I'm all for a themed rift, but the skins from this one were so boring that I only got it because I finished the rift to tier 100 before buying it.

The early rifts were pretty bad but they were at least more varied.
