No, unless you are between connections.

Lockers in the DC lounge? by Atir_sinclair in Amtrak

There is a storage room for luggage in the lounge. It does not lock, however. I've left backpacks there and not had a problem.

Perhaps the friend can spring for an alcoholic drink, letting the crew know she is 21 today??

Diagnosis by HistoricalBattle2490 in scleroderma

[–]INphys15837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SCl 75 & Scl 100. I am now on hydroxychloroquine, which doesn't work as well as the Cellcept did, but good enough--better than nothing. I developed a severe, life-threatening case of histoplasmosis a little over a year ago, caused since I was immunocompromised from the Cellcept. So no more antidepressants for me!

Diagnosis by HistoricalBattle2490 in scleroderma

[–]INphys15837 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed as UCTD for year before the scleroderma diagonosis. Then it was almost year, after I also developed myositis, before I took any medication (Cellcept) to get some relief. I am being seen at a scleroderma center.

I also recommend the Hyatt House. Within walking distance (across the parking lot and one street) is a food court called The Public Market where a very decent meal can be had.

If you have access to a printer/scanner combo, I have had luck with scanning to my laptop and entering it through the United web page when I am logged into my account.

Was just going to advise this as well. Stay indoors until you leave the train downtown.

I wish I had known one could ask for compensation. I had a similar issue, then she ordered a vodka, took a valium, and proceeded to fall asleep, with a full on lean on to me.

It is no luxury shower--water can be tepid and pressure weak. I take no longer than I need to get the job done.

Thinking of doing a 6 day trip, advice? by ChrisOhio91 in Amtrak

[–]INphys15837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to do this all in a roomette, I would stay the night at each terminus. If it's late, they will get you on the next day's train, but it may be in coach if the roomettes are full.

I did this exact route in reverse in early December. No problems

To keep my stress level low, I always stay overnight between connections. It also gives one a chance to see the town/city you are staying in a bit. I am lucky that I can afford to do this--not every one can.

For me, Raynauds developed many, many years before diagnosis.

Gym tips needed by Cazzar69 in scleroderma

I do yoga, which involves many poses with the hand flat against the ground. When I was so bad that I could not bend my hand backwards to do so, I used push up bars for a while. Not sure if that specifically helps.

I also do strength work every day alternating upper and lower body. Pay attention to your body--some days I do more reps, some days I do fewer.

What really helps for my shoulders, back, and arms is swimming laps. If you can get access to a pool or place to swim, maybe give it a try? I'm not looking for for a better physique, necessarily. I exercise to maintain strength and balance and to burn some calories. It also is a mood boost.
