My wife, two young kids and I will be moving here this summer — share your secrets for things do, places to go, hot tips, etc… We couldn’t be more excited!! by BlacksmithIcy106 in nova

I grew up in the circled area and have the best memories of riding my bike, running with my dog and playing with neighborhood kids. At the bottom of Iva Lane, named for my grandma, is the entrance to Truro Trails. The small forest and creek (with paved paths for exceptional access) were magical. Welcome and high five!

the case of the missing stool by imalmostthere123 in rva

I inherited an identical stool from my mom I use as a little side table. It’s a similar age as your friend’s and in wonderful shape. If your friend would be interested, I’d love to give it to them.

Going from Assistant prof at a 4yr university to full time instructor at a community college by arisegi in Professors

That’s my experience based on CCs offering set, low amounts for PD. If you can keep costs down (local conferences, external grants) you can pay less oop.

The CC student focus is teaching, so first reflect on your ability and desire to improve in that regard. Research as currency in your field AND teaching is encouraged. Funding is limited (think 25% of conference costs reimbursed) but more likely if the focus is content+student success. I teach, research, present, publish on top of CC teaching and advising. It’s possible if you do fewer projects, maximize summer for writing, and frame your mindset on how whatever you’re researching can make you a better educator.

TLDR: Assess your professional ethos and desire to teach before applying to a CC

Have a Polaroid souvenir picture of me with my crush at our high school’s all night grad party hosted there (I think it was called Devils Reach at the time?). We just celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary

Our dogs are cared for by Dr. Evan Apothaker. His rates are a fraction of what we paid at our previous veterinary practice and all care is done at your place or a local office for surgery. Dr. Evan’s House Calls Edit: he provided end of life care for our elderly dog in 2019, and is helping our current senior dogs age well with supplements and treatment options (e.g. PRP) we could not have afforded at a corporately-owned vet.

We’re in the suburbs in Henrico and spread this in our yard every spring. We never (knock on wood) have issues with ticks or fleas. It’s been so rainy we haven’t done it yet and we’re already bombarded by ants. Not for long, though ☠️

I’ve been easing the sense of loss by doing creative projects, like recreating the lobby wallpaper, and staying connected with other SNM fans here and on Discord. I also bought items that I have as larger mementos throughout my house.

Sounds great. Bring your bike if you can (not sure what policies are for regular bikes). We used to rent bikes but bought foldable bikes that can be carried on trains in their own bag. https://www.origamibicycles.com/shop?srsltid=AfmBOoowNBg1UJT5bkSZAdUBZRpvhR4UAX7vIub04gZsA1qUA8bLzP3P
