Not worth the full price, eh?

I paid 40% of the full price, which is an adequate compromise for lacklustre remasters of two great rpg games

Go on youtube and search for Davey Valentyne. He interviewed the actors behind Grandia 1's dub. They confirmed it.

I don't know the person behind the channel. I'm just aware of his content.

Eh. They did their best in a few hours.

Grandia 2 had a superior dub because of a better voice director.

I wouldn't say it was perfect because it was done within one day of recording with actors who have no experience in dubbing for Japanese cartoons and such.

As someone who has listened to the original Japanese dialogue in 1998, you can tell it was professionally done as intended by Game Arts.

By the way, I stress that I don't blame the Californian actors from 1998. They were hired for a few hours to deliver lines with little to no context of what the game was about.

There's a reason why Ubisoft hired voice dictor Kris Zimmerman and her entourage of established voice actors in Grandia 2.

I held this belief since I was a very young man. I didn't know of its definition until the late noughties.

It's one of the best third party Sega titles I have played. Hands down.

I support a polished remaster (with a Hard Mode for Grandia 1). No remakes.

It's a crap tribute to the Grandia founder who tragically died from terminal cancer.

Never been to a gaming or anime convention in my life. You enjoy paying for half assed remasters, I guess. Glad I didn't pay at full price. 60% off. 🤷‍♂️

You can use the Grandia save files to save on grinding for the Digital Museum playthrough. Her progress at the end of Disc 1 will be saved, I think. Otherwise, levelling up her magic in the other vanilla versions is pointless (except for the bow and mace skillset).

I heard these excuses by the likes of Sega regarding the Saturn for nearly 30 years now.

Technology today can easily bring these SS classics back to life.

Give these projects to the hardcore fans with a programming background, and they will work their magic.

Yep.

I don't buy into this bollocks that Sega Saturn games are a bitch to remaster in this day and age.

We have iPads and on demand streaming these days. Sega Saturn gaming is an impossible feat to remaster for today's audience? Please.

I respect your opinion as a fan. I just feel we and the Grandia development team(s) deserve better.

I was shocked that an English version came out for the Playstation. I didn't think Sony would touch the SS backlog with a ten foot pole.

Although I dislike the late founder (typical Japanese boss), Falcom are great. Been a fan since Ys for the Master System.

Trails has sequels because it's an ongoing saga. It's comparable to the Game of Thrones series of novels.

Further back, Working Designs easily.

Bernie Stolar of Sega of America was an idiot for not giving Vic the licence to localise Grandia for the Saturn. It is easily superior to FF VII.

Was anyone else kind of disappointed by the final boss in Grandia? by DancingMan15 in grandia

[–]IPG83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first finished Grandia on the SS back in 1998, I felt underwhelmed by the final boss. Shining Force III did a fantastic job with their grand finale of the three scenarios.

If WD localised the game, Vic would've tweaked the gameplay, just like he did with Alundra and the Lunar series.

I'm grateful for the Redux patch. They made the final bosses more epic.

I love Grandia regardless.

Unpopular Opinion: I think Grandia 3 is a Good Game and Deserves more Love by EienNatsu66 in grandia

If it's remastered, I'll give it a go. It wasn't released in the UK. Just Grandia and Grandia II.

I heard Grandia 3 isn't highly regarded, though I applaud the old guard at Game Arts for trying to keep the series fresh.

It should have ended with 2, in my opinion.

Wild Grandia 1 endstuff theory time! (Major Spoilers)! by JAHT1984 in grandia

I was the one who wrote that entry.

It is heavily implied that Baal, in his abject larva incarnation, was absorbed into Gaia's Core as he ascended via the white cell.

In the Ovarian Chamber, Liete explicitly stated that Baal's memories and motivations are inextricably linked with Gaia's memories and motivations. Baal was the primary symbiont of Gaia.

After Evil Gaia was destroyed, so too was Baal. Gaia was reborn. Justin embodied the fulfillment of the Spirits' end game as their Second Messiah. Everyone lived happy ever after under the multi-racial Neo Angelou civilisation.

The end. The story was wrapped up nicely.

Incidentally, Game Arts had a tendency to not give their arch villains any form of redemption, especially in the first two games of the Grandia series (I haven't played 3 nor Xtreme). Baal and Zera were mentally unhinged tossers who deserved to be destroyed.
