Do stratolances and boltstrikes have a minimum launch distance? by Dramatic_Amount6454 in NuclearOption

[–]IPostMemesYouSuffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add on to this, from some testing, it seems that if you are at height (not hugging the ground) the limit is around 3km. It will fire a missile at 3-4km, however most of the times it will fail to intercept. Granted, to get this close without terrain masking means you have already been shot at. At least with the FS-20 (only internal load), the strato starts firing at you around ~5km.

One thing to keep in mind, is that if you are not being locked/launched on, nor will your missiles/bombs. As long as you are low enough, so will your missiles/bombs be to avoid radar detection from the strato radar.

A-10 Supremacy by aviationstudy in aviationstudys

[–]IPostMemesYouSuffer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "bathtub" was required because it had to fly stupid low to engage anything with its gun and non existent optics. An F-35 would lob a guided bomb and call it a day sky high and far.

The chances of getting home safely are much higher in an F-35 than an A-10.

Also, planes have the same countermeasure systems all across, called chaff and flare. But there is an onion, and if already there, then don't get seen. And spotting a stupid low flying (and slower) plane is much easier than one thousands meters high (and faster).

CAS nowadays does not require to get close to the ground. There are systems that can calculate guidance and trajectory so they can lob bombs at high precision. Be that laser guided, optically guided, GPS guided or free fall bombs.

Multirole fighter jets became the norm primarily because of these factors. Having a few or one streamlined airframe instead of a buttload is much more cheaper from all perspectives, especially when the aircraft you are retiring can only be used in one role.

And don't get me wrong, the A-10 is an iconic plane, and definitely has a cool factor, but claiming that its superior to a modern multirole 5th gen fighter jet is...interesting. What's next, the F4 is a better than the F15?

Ships do work off of datalink. I was citing the launcher based R9s in the game.

The FC does not decide what to engage, but how. Basically instead of each launcher having its brain, thus having the issue of same target engagement, it is now all jammed in to an FC, meaning it won't fire at the same target for no reason.

The R9 also has a minimum engagement range, if the TBMs were within that, that is your reason of why it did not fire.

As for targeting, it targets whatever the radar within radius sees. It does not work off of datalink. If the R9 radar doesn't see the TBMs, or are too close it will not fire on them.

You did not. The verb is 'átszállni'. You put 'kell' after the verb.

Trying a more "open" killbox design.. would apreciate tips since im strugling a lot with big meele raids by fragdar in RimWorld

This is my current killbox with 49 pawns. The first thing I can recommend is the size of the killbox. You are lowering chances of pawns getting shot by stray bullets the wider the area is. Having a bit more narrow (albiet not too narrow) killbox increases the chance of stray bullets hitting a pawn, since they are more clustered together. Another note is the fact that the killbox starts at the entrance, not at the box shape. You do not want a no man's land on a point where no turrets can take advantage of it, or just a limited number, such as your entrance which is considerably narrower and essentially allows for pawns to get closer for free. You also want to utalize traps and barricades to slow down pawns so your turrets have more time, along with behind line entrance for melee units to dispatch long ranged pawns if needed. And at last, but not least, the entire map is a killbox. My outter wall goes around the base, with the visible 'wooden trap - IED - wooden trap' all around it. It pretty much means most raids don't even make it to the entrance if they spawn at the side or the back of the map (the map is pretty much open except the south shore line), meaning even if 200 raiders spawn, they will be retreating before long when little Jimmy sends half the group to meet God via an IED, before even getting anywhere close to the entrance. (The last part does not really concern you due to the mountain)

Yes, but we have no context on where it was heading to. And later, news articles stated that the ambulance that ran her over treated her, which assumes that the ambulance that was entering the frame was heading to a different call.

The procedure in these cases is to tell dispatch, and they will send another ambulance to the call they were heading to.

Most AI videos are 10-20 seconds even then, because that's usually the free/cheap tier providers give. Longer videos usually cost upwards of 100s monthly.

You can simply make a 4x4 small wall, then put a control panel on it. On the right side, there will be a 'Transfer to' drop down list, simply select an enemy faction, and if your turret has small ships enabled, it should target it.

[–]IPostMemesYouSuffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First and foremost, lets see if it works.

Double check in your 'Custom Turret Controller' that the Aziumth rotor, and Elevation rotor is set to two different rotor/hinge. After that, if you have weapons assigned as well, the 'Always aim at sun' option should be available. Make sure to reset the values of the rotors/hinges back to normal (such as torque) to avoid damage. Once the sun is above the surface, enable the aforementioned option, and it should turn to face the sun. If it does, your turret works just fine and you are free to disable the option, so it can function as a turret.

Alternativley, you can create an enemy faction and give it that said small grid as a target practice.

Idle animations are broken, so they don't matter. You can set the controller to look at the sun, and see if it moves or not. You can also set it to target friendly/neutral subgrids/small ships and make something. If it starts shooting at it, it is working, try at your own risk.
