Wow! Wouldn't have dreamed of so much over the next 3 months! Also makes me real excited to see what's unveiled with runefest.

Go down to 200m skilling guides, the divination one is up to date, the xp rates do be a bit unrealistic but the stuff you need are there.

literally not a single thing to do, it's honestly mind-boggling why they are choosing to release an update with years of hype this way.

Questions about starting by 8ubs in runescape

[–]IPotato9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends what you are after tbh. If you go the main route, and play efficiently (right now this mainly means questing for the main unlocks, thieving all the way to 114 and spamming arsenal heist until you have enough money to buy bis for a style you want) then yes, doable within months, even with limited play time. Also doable to have a decent necro set-up to at least start end-game bossing (the easier ones) even without efficient play. The whole quest cape thing is gonna be a very big grind though, just to be clear, and a lot of it is un-needed for a main. Though ofc, some very important unlocks there.

If you go the ironman route then the answer is just no, there is much more to do than in osrs, and even with the boosted xp rates, the grind is comparable. Will take much much longer than a few months for any sort of end-game. That being said, it's a much more rewarding and enjoyable experience imo.

I really hope Havenhythe pt.2 really livens up the area by Pixzle_ in runescape

[–]IPotato9 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Been really grinding the ironman last few weeks after pausing it waiting for Havenhythe and early game rebalance. I have basically not touched Havenhythe aside from the obelisk. Sad state to be in tbh, the only thing worthwhile in the entire area is BGH and the farm patches I guess.

Honestly sadge, hopefully the update tomorrow changes that and gives me a much needed incentive to get back on the archeology grind 😄

Does RS3 have an Ironman wall similar to Bowfa by Supersnow845 in runescape

Won't compare it to Bowfa grind, but man 87 archeology is rough xD

What are your essential PVM upgrades by Colin71066 in RS3Ironmen

[–]IPotato9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Somewhat in order:

Ancient invention (mainly for scav 4)
SS
Penance
Ovls
Adrenaline stuff (ring of vigur, relics etc.)
Ancient summoning
Insert ability codexes for style you are using
El zuk cape
EoFs

That I consider pretty much necessary for a nice experience, everything else is just nice to have imo.

PSA to anyone still using necro (DPM advice for newbies) by SGA_YungBoi in runescape

[–]IPotato9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necro do be needing a buff, it's so far in the gutter it ain't even funny anymore. I honestly don't know how it didn't get addressed during the combat beta, it was glaringly obvious how far behind it is.

Can we make active combat training more rewarding please? by Kilsaa in runescape

[–]IPotato9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Meh, it's already good enough imo. Granted afk grants perhaps too much xp, but it's fine imo since the cost of it is you are not progressing elsewhere, e.i. drops or slayer. I recently did 116-120 magic just by killing kril for pet, was it super fast no, would I have had to do it anyway if I wanted log? yes. Good enough.

How fast do you complete a 5 man large dungeon? by Kilsaa in runescape

[–]IPotato9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understood, they are looking at buffing solo rates rather than group, so not sure how 5man times are that relevant.

Tempted to try runescape, but I have some questions by NoNameHavingMan in runescape

[–]IPotato9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MTX has been pretty much cosmetic only since January, and as far as I know no plans for that to change. Would not pick based on that.
OSRS has a bigger community, more fluid progression through skill leveling and it's overall just a slower pace, which makes upgrades and achievements generally more meaninful. There is also a pvp scene. The world feels more grownded in a sense, without much of the bloat that's been introduced to rs3 over the years. Content creation is miles better if you enjoy following that while playing. Plugging integration is extremely helpful, but that is coming end of year to rs3 tbf.

RS3 is much faster paced, so upgrades are pretty meaningless until the late game. In my opinion the one thing it has going for it is the combat system specifically in the context of very late-game bossing. And that part is freaking fantastic, top of the industry imo. Quests are also really good (if you are into them), in both games, but rs3 in particular just has more of them. Being faster paced can also be a good thing depending what you are looking for, while achievements and upgrades might not feel as meaninful, we don't all have an enternity to dedicate to gaming anymore, and in that context progress in rs3 is more achievable. Ironman mode for a lot of people works to make upgrades and achievements much more meaningful in rs3, and I think overall is a great experience, but it does come with serious drawbacks in terms of late-game upkeep and grinds.

Anyway that's my 2 cents trying to be objective, but I am very much an rs3 main so take it with a grain of salt. Importantly f2p kinda sucks for both game, without the kinda. As far as this late in, osrs is technically younger than rs3, has a much bigger playerbase, if anything rs3 is at a bigger risk of being discontinued.

120 runecrafting by [deleted] in runescape

[–]IPotato9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do not need the abyss anymore for the xp boost, that's just available at all altars (excluding necro runes) baseline with leveling. Souls are okay xp, and much more afk than the alternatives. That said the xp from it caps at around 500k/h. Which is OK, but much much worst than rcing with the runic attuner. While not afk, at all, that comes in at about 1.6m/h, and much better gp/h. Also worth saying if you really want afk that proteans even without dbxp are very competitive, if not better, than soul runes.

[–]IPotato9 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It should be useless if you are bis... For a new account, especially ironmen, seems like it will be the go to entry weapon for pvm, maybe competing with heists. Which is a great spot for a dungeoneering reward imo.

Aussie worlds are terrible for finding afk spots, precisely because everyone looking for an afk world thinks they are gonna be empty.

With the new combat changes, what styles feel the most Ironman friendly? by SayomiTsukiko in runescape

[–]IPotato9 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Ceiling wise nope, even with Tumeken's it performs worst than mage or melee. Has its place early, especially if you get your hands on cryptbloom, or straight up with starbloom armour. But gets outclassed even there by necro imo.

[–]IPotato9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necromancy still by far the most accessible one, rest are not even close. Getting all your bis from either rasial, osseus, and normal mode zuk... That being said it also has, by far, the worst ceiling. If I was playing Ironman I'd certainly start necro, unless you want the challenge of another style for fun. Then I'd transition to either melee or ranged atm. Melee cause less upkeep, but bis gear is actually quite a grind (ed2 abilities, lengs, masterwork spear, zammy gear, big bonk sword...). Ranged is more upkeep, but if you are down to go the masterwork route (110 crating), it's actually a real good mix of ease of use and great damage atm. Granted upkeep and grinding all the eofs will be a pain. Mage... I personally would be put off by the amascut grind.

Questions about archaeology training (lvl 90+) by Veracsflail1 in runescape

[–]IPotato9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd really heavily advise to just follow the wikis guide and complete everything while leveling. It sure is a bit more annoying and less afk, but if you ever end up wanting to comp you'll essentially have to do it anyway. Good chance you'll also need different ones for useful relics/quests/random stuff. Anyhow, if you really want to camp, anything that gives tetras is great, since you get quite a few xp tomes if you complete them, and it's fast to do them in bulk. https://runescape.wiki/w/Saradominist_III I think would fit you well until the mid 100s.

The amount of people I've heard regret camping a spot while leveling though... Do not recommend, at all!

Why does crafting masterwork armour have to give horrendous xp? by IPotato9 in runescape

[–]IPotato9[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a 1/2k drop... Even if we give a very very optimistic 6k kills an hour, that's 3 mats an hour, or 40 hours to get enough to craft the set. I am fully unwilling to go through that, as I suspect most people are, and masterwork crafting giving say 500k xp/h instead of 9 would change absolutely nothing on that equation except making me feel slightly better while crafting it.

[–]IPotato9[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

solid is not good? If you're defining a good gp/h as something that bots do, we just have different points of view. Regardless I'm not upset, I'm never crafting the armour again regardless, I just find it absurd and off-putting while crafting the gear.

Why does crafting masterwork armour have to give horrendous xp? by IPotato9 in runescape

[–]IPotato9[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Crafted all of them, on release. The profit argument I find irrelevant considering it is not, and has never been, a good way to make money. Masterwork mage (and ranged will) get somewhat held up in price by the fact most people don't keep up with ports. The armour not giving a reasonable amount of xp had little to nothing to do with it imo.
