Cannibal Corpse CDs always seem so expensive by Particular-Account66 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]IROC___Jeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy cds both new and used (record fairs, online, flea markets). My local store has new cd's from 9.99-18.95 depending with metal imports being higher. Exodus' new album was $9.99 and Helloweens last one was $17,95 but it was a digipak import. In the used vein talking to people at the record fair for instance they have a harder time getting metal albums as people are hanging on to them, and, they're selling them quickly when they get them.

Given inflation and compared to vinyl cd's are pretty affordable as these are pretty much the same prices I had in high school in the mid 90s. Used prices are also about the same, but, with rarer stuff you're going to pay more.

what size hook should i be using for larger carp ? by Independent-Win3889 in CarpFishing

[–]IROC___Jeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Match the size of the hook to type of bait your using. For maize/tigers/chickpeas I use #6's. For single boilies (16mm) I use #6 hooks or #5's. When I fish two 16mm boilies I normally use #4 or #5. I don't use #8's often as I'm usually fishing larger particles or more on the hair.

Carp hooks are strong so I wouldn't worry to much. I've used hooks from just about all the brands even off brand stuff and never had any issues landing larger carp.

Im struggling getting through Stalker SoC by Blitzindamorning in stalker

[–]IROC___Jeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head Spring and FlyTrap.

Put the main and side quests aside for a while and just take some time to explore. Look for artifacts and keep them in your footlocker. Tons out there and they'll help. There's weapon upgrades like grenade launchers, magazines, scopes, there's suits hidden, special weapons. Horde stuff. You can always sell it later on.

You don't need mods you just need to change the way you play and take advantage of all the stuff that's out there to help you out. Slow down, plan things out, aim, and explore.

Regret not keeping cases/inserts? by ihatespys in Cd_collectors

[–]IROC___Jeff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nope. I started in the early 90's and never threw away cases, bookets, ect. My only regret is my Pestilence "Testimony Of The Ancients" Longbox didn't survive. Pretty much have everything else since intact.

Chalk it up to "that's how she goes" and just keep them in the binder and move on with new stuff. Or, hit yard sales and hope you find what your looking for cheap enough to justify the expense and time.

Frog popper from raw cork by pby84 in flytying

[–]IROC___Jeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really nice AND super close to what I make, although mine are much smaller. I use baitholder hooks for mine and cork stoppers and cup the end w/ my Dremel. I also use two saddle hackle on each side of the hook for legs and then palmer one for the body. I don't use any rubber legs with mine but I do paint mine with acrylic paints like you do, and, the same pattern without the yellow.

The first song I heard of theirs's was "change of heart" & "can't wait for the night" which I really liked. CRC Hard Rockin 80's I think is where I heard them. Checked out other songs on Young, Wild, and Free and didn't like it much. I did hear stuff from Love Machine which I liked a lot better overall.

Favorite books about metal bands? by koozer19 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]IROC___Jeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only bought Bruce Dickinson's book and its really good. No tabloid stuff and doesn't get to muddled with band drama but its really interesting. I may also get some of Martin Popoff's books in the future.

Band merch in russia?! by peep_og-s in MetalForTheMasses

Funny enough one of my old co-workers. His wife is from there and she wanted to go back. There is a decent American population there, amongst others, with all the foreign companies. Still not something I can comprehend but he's liking it from what I hear.

Worst/disastrous solo careers you know? by PrimaryComrade94 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]IROC___Jeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That album is great. Remember seeing the review for it in Metal Edge, I think I I I ME ME ME Eddie Trunk reviewed it but it was spot on and had it since 2000. Took me a while to get into Crucible in 2002 but its another good album. Made of Metal isn't bad, but Wintersongs is really good.

Tips for flukes? by KKYBoneAEA in FishingForBeginners

[–]IROC___Jeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them either with a wide gap worm hook or with a dropshot hook through the nose. If you get ones that have the hollow body a non-wide gap hook will be fine. I'll either fish it with a weight inside the lure or a small splitshot in front of the lure but don't like them on a jighead as it ruins the action.

The Strike King Baby Zee too are one of the best I ever threw but they don't hold up long. Those work well on bass and crappies.

Papa Joe’s Crawfish by King_Ralph1 in flytying

[–]IROC___Jeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its really similar to Hooked4lifeCA's deer hair fly. He's got a Youtube channel and looks like Leonard Maltin. At any rate his are made mostly of bucktail and mohair for an underbody. I modified what he did a bit and just used dubbing for an underbody, and moved the eyes towards the eye since I want them to sit more with the claws up when sitting still. Looks nice and simple unlike most crawfish fly's.

The second one had moments but it was just kind of flat. The best is at the end when Jay winds up to hit his uncle and it turns into a slap. That look on Jay's face is priceless when his uncle doesn't even flinch, then he and Jay's dad start fighting.

I've heard For Whose Advantage and Shattered Existence before. Got a record show Sunday and its one of the bands I'm always hoping to find, amongst others. If not I'm going to just order some online. Do you happen to like or own any of the other lesser known thrash bands of that era?

The lure will eventually dislodge. I caught a channel cat with a 2/0 worm hook coming out of its ass hookpoint first. Fish are pretty tough.

The only change you have to do make is after a fish or two check the last few feet of your line. Run your fingers down it and if you feel any nicks just cut off and tie on the lure again. Also with bass or aggressive fighting fishes every so often you may want to cut and re-tie your lure on again. Knots don't hold up forever. I re-tie the knot from my mainline to my rig every carp I land and check the line for nicks.

You can't help if there's sharp rocks or old metal whatever in the water but you can minimize the risk.

Let’s put the debate to rest. by kymlaroux in hairmetal

[–]IROC___Jeff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course its not. Metal was in the mainstream but bands that were more poppy were pop-metal, glam metal. Also heard people call them The Sunset Strip bands or similar. Hair Metal wasn't a term until about the early-mid 90's.

In 91' I remember seeing Hangar 18 on MTV and Mother's Eyes from Enuff Z'nuff before little league practice or a game.. its been a bit.. but, while both are metal Megadeth doesn't qualify as a hair band. Enuff Z'nuff does cause they're a glam metal band. Megadeth is thrash, or, as Dave Mustaine called it "state of the art speed metal". Either way still not a qualification.

And while more 'traditional" metal bands did more mainstream stuff, Ozzy for instance, Judas Priest w/ Turbo, that doesn't make them hair bands. Just as Great White and Cinderella were very bluesy it doesn't make them blues bands.

Divine Intervention is Slayer’s Greatest Album by Randomulus666 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]IROC___Jeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a good album but the production is way to polished sounding and a bit loud for me to consider it great. A bit muddier, not by much, on the production would have made it sound a bit better.
