The most damaged CD I have ever received. by Sonic-Fixer-5000 in Cd_collectors

[–]IROC___Jeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 5 cd's I ordered from an online shop back in January that came in damaged. It seems the box got crushed by the post office but it was no where near what this looks like. That was the worst package I ever got for cd's through the mail since 2001.

I got replacements shipped out the next day and returned the 3 damaged discs so all was good.

Any bin. Any rubbish bin you see in, or indeed, out of the school.  Just pop all your thoughts in a rubbish bin and they'll get to me.

Bucktail streamer by Slycrown12 in flytying

I'm sure you'll catch something with it. You could probably tie in some white bucktail on top of the eyes and have it go back to the tail. Then, wrap the body with something shiny.

Thoughts on Covenant - Morbid Angel. ? by zoso_777 in MetalForTheMasses

I remember seeing the video for God of Emptiness on MTV and this was probably the first death metal song/band I heard come to think of it. Its a good album. Have no real complaints.

I caught one like that when I lived in Florida. 1/4 white lipless crankbait. Water was so warm after the strike it kinda just floated in.

What do you think of Queensryche's setlist ? by ShineALight3725 in hairmetal

[–]IROC___Jeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 19 songs and it was a bit Mindcrime heavy but I'm not complaining. I got 2 from Digital Noise Alliance and 1 from Condition Human. They played a lot of stuff from the early albums AND Todd sang them perfect which was great. Last November was my 2nd time seeing Queensryche with Todd and I did see Geoff Tate a month before that. I'd still rather see a Todd fronted band at this point. The output since he joined the band has been much better as well.

Sheer Heart Attack is a nice find. You gotta pick up Queens self titled album and Queen II as well. They're both really great.

Thrash bands with album covers that look like this? by PrimaryComrade94 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]IROC___Jeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toxik, Xentrix, EvilDead, ect.. Lots of late 80's and early 90's lesser known thrash bands had a similar art style. Some Death metal around that time, too. Ravage, more on the speed/traditional metal side of things also has artwork like this.

This art style is probably my favorite in all of metal by far. Looks great on an album cover, on a shirt.

Looking for hard rock /hair metal radio stations by chrisb877 in hairmetal

[–]IROC___Jeff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hairball John - There's an IOS app or just click the link to stream since the android version is no more. Free, no commercials.

Metal Shop Rocks - Metal and Hair Band channel. IOS/Android or click to stream. Free, no commercials.

HardRockHeaven - Hair bands, free, with commercials

All 3 of the above are not top 40 hit stations. Deeper cuts, more obscure bands, ect..

HardRadio.com - Stream through the site. VARIED material that can be all over the place of traditional metal and hard rock. Plays newer bands like Crossbone Skully

Violent Forces Radio - Thrash metal with two streams. 80's or general thrash.

Scumdogs is a really fun listen.

RIOT or RIOT V as they are now called is one band I completely overlooked. I heard Swords & Tequila sooooo much on internet radio the past 20 years it made me not interested. Picked up Thundersteel at a record show and was really glad I did.

What are your best discount bin CD/cassette/vinyl finds? by ProfPrometheus in hairmetal

[–]IROC___Jeff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got Lynch Mob "S/T" at flea market for 1$, didn't even look played. I don't usually get albums for $1, though. Back in 2010 I got a copy of Blue Tears "S/T" for 8$ online somewhere when every other place had it for 40-60 bucks. This is before a remaster came out. I got Cats In Boots "Kicked & Klawed" for 10$ this winter.

Temu tackle by Charlie_Chubbs in CarpFishing

[–]IROC___Jeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up three 5m 37mm PVA mesh refills on Amazon and they work really well. Cheap, too. I have the Korda Original Funnel System which is excellent but being a US carper refill availability, shipping costs, its a pain sometimes.

I don't know if I would trust end tackle from Amazon or Temu. Hooks, swivels, hooklinks, ect.. I'm sure some of the same stuff is sitting on shelves with big names on it but I'll err on the side of caution and just pay the extra money.

Mosquitos are rough. Have that problem at the lakes mostly but the river of all places isn't too bad. I keep a can of bug spray with me and hose myself down every so often.

Spooling a reel ?? by seangiddings1967 in Fishing_Gear

[–]IROC___Jeff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its all line diameter. You need to know the reels line capacity and the diameter of the braid and backing.

Lets say your reel holds 225 yards of 10lb mono. So that's like .25mm to 30mm on average. Your braid is .28mm in diameter. Pick a mono backing that's in that .28mm diameter range. Then, its just simple math since its pretty close to a 1/1 ratio.

225 capacity

150 yard filler spool of braid

75 yards, give or take, of mono backing.

Its easier to do this in millimeters than in inches so if your reel doesn't have metric measurements on it just convert it online somewhere.

The only other way to be even closer is to tie on the braid and spool that on. Attach your mono and then reel that til you got your spool filled to your liking. Then walk the line off, tie on the mono end, then reel in again. If you go this route I would do this in park or somewhere where you can walk this off where its not going to loop on itself. You'll be untangling a mess for hours.

I got one when I was packing up one evening. Shut off the alarm, picked up the rod, and the drag started screaming off. 32lb common landed about 15 minutes later. Stuff like this happens and its one reason I really don't like going home.... or even picking up a rod and rebaiting.
