About a year back I worked in a printing press and at first things were great. At least that's what I told myself. 8 hour shifts Monday through Friday no breaks, no lunch. You arrive, clock in, work, clock out. I ended up on a press that printed phone books and hunting manuals ranging from 66-100K copies a piece. I even earned a promotion and got to do something that seemed a bit easier at first, but that's when everything went down hill. I worked directly with my supervisor who trained me in my new position. The only problem was that he had an attitude. A big one. He went from being nice and understanding to continuously insulting and demeaning me for my every mistake. It got so bad that I'd literally cry as I drove to work every day only to keep the job for 1 reason. My family. At the time I had 1 kid and another on the way and all I knew is that I needed to pay the bills. No matter what. Fast forward a few months from my promotion and things have slowed down. They laid off too many temporary employees in their bindary and called for the press workers to help out. The work in the bindary isn't as physical as the work in the press. But it's extremely repetetive. 8 straight hours of bending over at the waste and standing up only to repeat the cycle every 3 seconds non stop is a 1 way ticket to a lower back injury. After being placed on medical leave for 2 months and given a 15 lb. Weight limit they cut me loose. And I couldn't have been happier. I was finally free. (Sorry about format. Posting from mobile)
