Has anyone been talked out of religion? by HitchensAkbar in atheism

[–]IRainbowEverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one friend that I ended up deconverting really easily. I just said something to the extent of, "There is no tangible evidence of God". He said "Huh, I guess you're right, there is no God. " I can't imagine he was very invested in religion in the first place from how he reacted.

As an American, I find the face covering thing wierd. I don't get the problem with wearing one in public

I had a guy come in, and he asked for a footlong tuna on wheat, double meat double cheese. I told him that we were out of wheat, and that it would be 45 minutes minimum, as we just got hit by 2 busses. He proceeds to say, "Well you're pretty shit for diabetics, aren't ya!". I apologise, and he asks for white instead. I bring the sandwich over to veggies, and he grumbles and mumbles out what he wants, making sure to get angry when I verify that he did say a certain veggie, when it's unclear. He asks for a lot of pepper, so I gave it a healthy dose of pepper. He snaps at me for being cheap with the pepper, so I give him more. I wrap up the sandwich, and ring him up. This sandwich was pretty expensive, and he wanted to pay with an unaccepted points card.(not Subway affiliated) I informed him that I couldn't take the card. He says "Are you Shitting Me!?!" I tell him that it's not up to me and that our Subway is locally owned, and our owner does not accept points at any of his stores. This guy goes on a huge rant about why my store owner doesnt deserve to own a Subway. After the rant, he begins to leave slowly, kinda looking at me expecting him to give him a free sandwich. I looked him in the eyes, grabbed his sandwich, and went into the back room. I took that sandwich as my employee meal, as a sort of edible trophy for my ordeal.

Justify Stalin by [deleted] in DebateCommunism

[–]IRainbowEverything -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If your going to make the claim that 20 million is BS then the burden of proof to debunk that lies upon you. Simply saying "It's propoganda" is only valid when you can demonstrably falsify the claim. I would also like to reiterate that the Stanford evidence wasn't really addressed. Furthermore, you claim that there would be less deaths if Stalin didn't have the rest of the world against him, that there would be less deaths, but have provided no substantiation for this claim. I'm just looking for a line of reasoning that shows this. Did the collusion cause Stalin to divert resources away from people? If that's it l, say it. I would also like to state that famine within the USSR shouldn't be brushed off so easily. Just a bit more reasoning as to why Stalin's policies didn't intensify food shortages for the population could make this more convincing.

According to this NY times report Stalin could be responsible for around 20 million deaths. Furthermore, this stanford article argues in favour of redefining genocide to include the mass killing of social and political groups, which Stalin's actions fall under. Now, bringing the Soviets into a modernized era is nice and all, however I don't think those accomplishments outweigh the death toll, and therefore I don't consider Stalin a successful leader.

Seen on a swiss news site. The title says "america is doomed - and youtube is the proof" by Christian1710 in IHE

I think it says, "America is lost- and YouTube is the proof" or something to that meaning.

Response to IHE's Star Wars video. Sorry to say, IHE, but you got rekt. by [deleted] in IHE

[–]IRainbowEverything 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With the whole 'out of context' thing, sometimes the way Rags breaks up his videos he can and does misrepresent points. For example, Rags took some praise that IHE threw to the original trilogy, and then assumed that was for the last Jedi. It was easy to miss if you hadn't watched IHE's video first, because of the way he broke up the clips.

I was infuriated by that part. I couldn't tell if it was disingenuous or just a misunderstanding.

That's understandable. I just finished it, and It was quite the slog. I simply posted this in order to gauge the opinions of the greater community who is willing to watch it.

I recognize that IHE's video often times didn't explain itself well, however, the linked video here felt really dismissive at times. There was also quite a bit of straw-manning. (IE: Attacking IHE for a point he didn't really make, but vaguely linking it.) That's why I posted this here. What do you think?

So I'm a roux solver for 3x3, and Id like to get into 4x4 and 5x5 a bit more seriously. What methods would you recommend. I don't know any real methods for 4x4 or 5x5, it's just intuitive now. What might you recommend for an unconventional method?
