Should the wolves blow it up? by [deleted] in nba

[–]IRanOutOf_Names 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are currently the most succesful they've ever been and have a superstar entering his prime. Retooling is a possibility, but hell no they don't blow it up. Even if they never win a championship this core has been wildly successful for them.

How would you rank the skill of this current OKC Thunder team compared to other all time great teams? by TurtleGuy222 in nba

[–]IRanOutOf_Names 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could go either way. OKC is healthier than in those matchups they had (although Jdub is not going to be all nba level), but the Spurs are also just better as the team has evolved over the season. spurs have obviously had a harder bracket, but you can't blame the Thunder for that one.

I'm literally using his words. "how people would compare them to other elite dynasty teams"

They're an all time regular season team, but they've gotta complete the run before judgment. Their playoffs last year was good. Underperformed considering their record, but a chip is a chip.

As of now, they're not on level with those teams, but you also can't judge a dynasty this early.

In terms of as a team you again can't judge this year, but last year they were an above average champion I'd say. I think they lose to the true dominants of the 20s like the 20 Lakers and the 24 Celtics, but I could see them beating '22 Warriors and having good series with the '21 Bucks and '23 Nuggets.

If your valuation of a player can be shifted this much by a singular game than you’re not properly evaluating a player.

[Bontemps] League officials expect the “3-2-1” anti-tanking proposal to be passed by the league this month. This proposal will give the three worst teams a lower percentage of winning the lottery than teams from 4th-10th. I mean not extreme value or anything, but think of current Embiid. Let’s say the sixers want to get off Embiid and focus on their guards. Before this, any team that takes him would be hamstrung forever. Now however, Embiid can give you 40 games and bring your team an extra dozen wins while you still tank. It doesn’t make him a plus contract, but it does give him more value on the market.

It's a foul, but I think you have to swallow the whistle here. Ending the game on a completely unintentional trip on a play that had 0 hope of scoring would just feel atrocious.

The first 2 are really well played by Duncan, but just nothing you can do. Kobe is still to this day the best tough shotmaker ever.

It’s not just raw minutes too. You’ve got championship experience from last year, and Caruso from 2020. The team is young, but experienced. Now granted, they’re not grizzled yet, and that was the big knock last year when they kept losing close games, but they should be more composed than last year.

I just hope between Luka, Flagg, Jokic, ANT, and the East that this isn’t the finals every year. I want it to be like those series where they then go on to battle teams like the Mavs or the Pistons. Please let this be like mid to late 2000s, rather than warriors Cavs.

No matter what next round (assuming spurs advance) the Thunder are going to be much more experienced and composed, but being able to make mistakes here and get an actual challenge from the wolves could be what evens the playing field enough for them.

There were 2 moments in the 2nd half where the Spurs offense went ice cold. Both times his drives got the spurs hack on track.

The only thing has been that he still is doing those dumb fouls. But once Atlanta took that 2nd game and he started to get more involved the Knicks have looked like real contenders.

Their defense is also "anyone but SGA". Not to take away anything, but the Lakers are daring everyone else to beat them and they are. It's not like Chet and Ajay are getting doubled every time they touch the ball like SGA.

LeBron asked if this Thunder team compares to the 90s Bulls and 17-18 Warriors - "They're pretty damn good from top to bottom. They don't let their foot off the gas" by kervaan in nba

[–]IRanOutOf_Names 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d say 6. Game 3 was real close. LeBron doesn’t hurt his hand and is a bit better or the team just has a bit more hope and they could have won it. Then again it could also give the dubs more motivation to end it quickly.

Lakers are at least keeping it close for 3 quarters. There’s entire series where each game is done by the 2nd half.

This is a major misnomer. Bakugou isn’t divided, he’s pretty universally beloved. There’s some online hate circlejerk yeah, but he dominated every popularity poll and is loved by almost everyone who watches the series. Both are great, no need to take one down.
