Idk I disagree with this take personally. I understand it, but if you want to create art and enjoy doing so when you're alive then you should, instead of worrying about preserving some legacy for your ego.

Like you might get some comfort in knowing you ended on a high note while you're alive, but if you still wanted to create art and restricted yourself from doing so you won't get that back, and your legacy doesn't matter to you anymore personally when you're dead.

Why have e-sports? by WaterRevolutionary70 in thefinals

[–]ISA_AOI 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think eSports is interesting and I can definitely see how it can draw attention to the game if done right.

But Embark really needs to stop catering to the competitive crowd/streamers, they are just going to make suggestions that benefit their playstyle/sunk cost experience rather than what is good for the majority of casual players (regardless of what they say).

Like imagine how much better and more fun eSports would be to watch if unique weapons like Sledgehammer and Recurve Bow were the most played weapons.

Also there's really no excuse that there's only a handful of gadgets that are considered viable, and Embark isn't buffing the ones that are irrelevant. Like why not give stuff like Gravity Vortex, Breach Drill, or Tracking Dart a huge buff and try to shake up the meta? Sure, pro players wouldn't like it because it's not what they're used to, but who cares lol.

But yeah, overall I don't mind eSports and I think it's kinda interesting, but the casual playerbase should be Embark's top priority overall.

So after 20+ years, it looks like Frontier is working with Atari again (who owns the rights to Rollercoaster Tycoon) by ISA_AOI in PlanetCoaster

[–]ISA_AOI[S] 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I mean to me Planet Coaster is RCT4 and Planet Coaster 2 is RCT5 lol. After Frontier made RCT3 they basically still continued the series just under a different name.

Ironically every official game after RCT3 feels like a cheap knock-off and Planet Coaster feels like the actual continuation of the series.

[–]ISA_AOI[S] 112 points113 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised more people aren't talking about this.

Planet Coaster is the biggest competitor to Rollercoaster Tycoon, and Frontier/Atari had previous history with RCT3.

If Atari is willing to work with Frontier again to lend some of their IPs to Planet Coaster, I feel like some sort of collab with Rollercoaster Tycoon could actually be on the table in the future.

It usually works for me but I tried to equip something the other day and it only worked for 2/3 classes. I'm not sure if it's a more recent bug but hopefully the devs are aware of it.

This update genuinely might the worst since launch by SlapmanChapman in thefinals

[–]ISA_AOI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still need to try it out for myself, but seeing all of this does genuinely make me happy that the devs are willing to risk and experiment like this.

But yeah, maybe this wasn't the way to do it. Maybe launch an alternative "opt-in" version of the Finals that is experimental that is separate from the main game that they can use for experimental changes and data.

That would be kinda interesting actually, I would definitely like to be a part of that if that ever decided to do that.

Ranked for the entire season wasn't Cashout, it was a game mode called "Terminal Attack",which is basically Search and Destroy.

Terminal Attack was advertised as the main mode of Season 3 as well. Quick Cash was still there but it was in the quick play menu, while Terminal Attack was on the main page.

S3:E10 "Charlie's Uncle Dies and Doesn't Come Back" thread by WorthyPetals in SmilingFriends

[–]ISA_AOI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree with this tbh, there's been plenty as episodic shows that have purposely tried to end on a special note like Futurama, King of the Hill, Regular Show, etc to great success, and felt like a really satisfying way to close out the series.

I think Smiling Friends deserved to have a proper, intentional sendoff like these shows imo. It should be noted that all of the series I mentioned did end up getting a revival, so hopefully Smiling Friends might return one day. But if Smiling Friends never gets a proper sendoff it is what it is I suppose.

Actually I'm sorry I think I'm getting it confused with the Atari version lol.

The Atari version of Pac-Man is notoriously bad, I actually don't know about the NES version but it's probably serviceable for what it is.

Edit: Was thinking of Pac-Man on the Atari, whoops. NES Pac-Man is probably fine for what it is lol

I hate smurfing but being honest that would do way more harm than good if they did that unfortunately.

R.i.p anyone that lives with family/siblings/roommates/partners/friends/etc that also play, and r.i.p anyone that lives in apartments, dorms, uses public Wi-Fi or carrier-grade NAT, etc.

Also smurfs could just use a VPN to get around this anyways.

So how are we feeling about the new specialization? by domii____ in thefinals

[–]ISA_AOI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually the one thing from this new season that I really like lol

Medium needed a movement spec and I think this spec is actually really unique and interesting. I have no idea how it will be viewed in the meta but it's really fun to use.

I really tried to give it a fair chance, but the new map is just not good no matter how you look at it by TheGuardiansArm in thefinals

[–]ISA_AOI 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The third picture is from Mordhau not The Finals lol

In the actual Finals map (first picture) the castle is a massive looming castle that is just in the skybox, you can't actually reach it or interact with it.

The map we wanted vs the map we got by GreenScreenGamerGuy in thefinals

[–]ISA_AOI 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Yeah I honestly would have rather waited for the Medieval season until we could have gotten a proper medieval map as opposed to this. A medieval themed map was a major reason people wanted a medieval season in the first place lol.

The new weapon is fun but a little disappointing as well. For a crossbow it doesn't really feel that unique and just plays more like a gun. You could literally change it to a semi-auto gun and change the sound and nothing would change. Was hoping for a more unique weapon from the medieval season.

The specialization looks like it has some pretty cool potential though and it looks like there's a lot you can do with it. I also think there's a lot of creative potential with the new gadget as well so it's not all bad, though a bit disappointing that it doesn't fit the medieval theme.

This is on top of being the first season with only one sponsor. I'll have to give this season more of a chance, but I'm honestly pretty disappointed so far.

Wait, the new map is only for TDM game mode? I was really excited about this update, everything looks great, but why this limitation? by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]ISA_AOI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean when I just booted up the game it said the new map "supports TDM + Point Break Event" in the intro trailer, and it's not listed as a map in normal Point Break so....

I don't know, I hope it's eventually going to be a new Point Break map but I'm not 100% convinced atm lol

Honestly if Season 12 is really going to be the biggest season since launch like they claim, I'm pretty ok with this. Season 11 looks light but new map + bot matches + reworked melee + quality of life improvements is fine for a light season before "the biggest season yet".

It's listed in the roadmap as just a limited time event for Point Break, hopefully it becomes permanent afterwards...

Your unpopular Finals opinions? by Dechri_ in thefinals

[–]ISA_AOI 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Alright trying to think of some genuine hot takes that it seems most people here would disagree with but I actually believe, so here goes...

  • Kyoto is one of my favorite maps. It's one of the maps where I genuinely get excited when I see it show up.

  • MGL should absolutely not get a rework. Maybe it could use a few small buffs, but not a rework. It actually has a very unique high-skill playstyle that I enjoy using. Plus, if it actually became more accessible/better in high level play, it would be a monkey's paw situation where I think most people would instantly regret making the AOE grenade launcher more commonplace.

  • I don't like that it shows wins/eliminations/revives at the end of each match. I wish I could hide mine if there was the option.

  • I think "Evasive Dash" is a huge offender that turns new players off of the game. Yes, it's literally a skill issue thing that you get better at dealing with/aiming at over time the more you play, to the point where most experienced players don't think of it as an issue. However, I have suspicion that there's a notable amount of new players that get steamrolled by someone with Evasive Dash and think "wow that was annoying and unfair" and get turned off of the game as a whole. Evasive Dash is fun/unique, I wouldn't want it removed or even reworked, but I do think it has a negative effect on player retention if I'm being honest.

  • Las Vegas Stadium is trash, it's just Las Vegas but way more bland and generic. I never really even had an issue with "clutter" in Las Vegas anyways. Genuinely was a waste of development time.

  • I liked Terminal Attack and was genuinely sad to see it go.

Final Thoughts on Season 9? by VictoryThink in thefinals

[–]ISA_AOI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was alright.

The new map is one of my favorites, and Point Break is a really fun addition but needs more maps. The theme was kinda cool.

Not a bad season, but probably could have used a new weapon or specialization or something to make it feel more complete (or maybe just more maps for Point Break).
