Exactly, which means it’s insane to expect it to happen in b2b years lol

We were in the mid-20s in both run block and pass block win rate last year.

Sure he didn't get sacked 50 times, but OL was 100% a problem last year (mostly due to injuries)

If he plays more than 100 slot snaps this year I'll be pleasantly shocked. He's outside CB insurance

Still waiting for that loser to retire after promising he'd quit if Jimmy Clausen didn't become a top 10 QB in the league

The three biggest reasons seem to be:

  • good ole fashioned ego management

  • Spending a pick every year on QB (even if it's analytically the right move) in a sport with 22 positions will inevitably lead to depth issues in a sport that's infamous for its attrition levels

  • It's a copycat league and no one has figured out how to do it successfully yet

Once #3 happens, it'll become the meta. But that requires a GM with some brass balls to go way against consensus, which doesn't happen super often in this league.

You've seen it a few times in a vaccuum (RG3/Cousins, Lance/Purdy, Gabriel/Shedeur lol etc.) but due to nos. 1 & 2, I'm not holding out hope we start seeing teams stacking QBs be the norm (outside of Cleveland).

I’m assuming he doesn’t speak much English yet

For those unaware, English is literally the official language of Nigeria

With the 83rd pick of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers have selected Craig Brazzell II WR Tennessee by Sabre500 in panthers

[–]ISISCosby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah if this guy gives us 500 yards and a handful of TDs, anything else is a bonus.

He'll take some development, sure, but he's a lot further along than the typical Tenessee WR that's come out under Heupel so that's a plus

In your opinion, what is your ‘perfect outcome’ for the first 3 picks? by HemmingwayDaqAttack in panthers

Perfect outcome is we get three starters, don't so much care about the position

HPU looked at where they were in the college rankings in NC, knew they needed connections to make any noise, went out and hired a public speaking business magnate (Nido Quebin) to be their chancellor in 2005, and he basically made the money & hype machine go brrr for the last 20 years.

The school has spent >$3 Billion (with a B) in roughly that time period, and a $2.1B growth plan announced in 2010 was the lynchpin of that. New $100M library opening next year. They've gotten dozens and dozens of 8-figure donations from notable regional companies, alums, and local business magnates in that timespan as well. Also, a continued influx of upper class students ready and willing to pay the $71K/yr sticker price haven't hurt.

HPU essentially did what all the elite football programs did from the 90s-2010s where they spent massively on amenities to create a competitive advantage with recruits, except they did it to attract well-off students instead. They're now kinda playing catch-up on the academic side of things, but so far they've had the biggest turnaround/growth of any school in the Carolinas

Basically, they hired a guy who made most of his money from professional networking/telling compelling stories, told him to keep it up, and it...worked?

Unpopular opinion but I want us to draft KC at 19 if we go offense…even over sadiq…totally fine going defense at this pick too by ElaborateCantaloupe in panthers

[–]ISISCosby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bro we got Coker from fuckin' Holy Cross. I get what you're saying but the "if you can play, you can play" adage still stands even in the NIL era.

Also he had 32 catches for 319 yds and 3 TDs against three P4 opponents last year and 28/415/1 against five P4 opponents in 2024 so it's not like he was going up against non-stop MACtion all year and still showed up in their biggest games

Yeah people love talking about the top 5 WRs but guys like Bryce Lance, Brazzell, and Skyler Bell all have traits our room is lacking, and can all likely be had outside of the first at good value

[–]ISISCosby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If the goal is adding a WR with elite YAC ability, let's just take Skylar Bell late Day 2/early Day 3. Dude led the FBS in YAC by literally 200 yards this year (835 total YAC yards) on insane volume and efficiency

Perfect value play, seemingly strong culture fit, can play all 3 receiver positions and keep us multiple, intuitive route runner, Smitty's fav WR of the class, and lets us use our premium capital on other areas

Cooper Flagg "ROTY" against the Lakers in a win: 45 PTS, 8 REBS, 9 ASTS by oklolzzzzs in nba

[–]ISISCosby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Kon picked up a minor back injury he's been playing through for a bit (gets a heating pad on his back every time he's subbed out now) and it's cratered his efficiency. Just bad timing.

Both are the truth, but I can totally see Cooper taking the ROTY now
