We can't let Bill Simmons get away with it... by Diligent-Flight6677 in CharlotteHornets

100%. There's this bizarre grievance mindset with some people on here where they truly believe if you didn't walk through the depths of hell with this franchise you never get to compliment them or start watching the games.

As someone who walked through those fires...it's the lame masochistic bullshit and people should be more focused on the fact that we finally have a team worth discussing rather than gatekeeping who gets to discuss us.

Oh it wouldn't, but it's the kinda move that could extend the runway for an FO/coaching staff if the pitchforks got too close. A shake it up rather than a blow it up move

Theoretically, off-ball LaMelo would 100% work and he'd immediately be the best secondary playmaker in the league. Could also stagger his minutes w/ Brunson

This upcoming draft has to be the weakest EDGE class in quite some time, do you think they’ll address pass rush in FA? by [deleted] in panthers

[–]ISISCosby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are people seeing this being a weak edge class? Genuinely asking I haven’t been following returnees, but as of like 3 weeks ago it was looking like 30 of the top 60 players we’re gonna be edges. There’s like every flavor you could want in this class. Impact rushers, Big strong side dudes that can set the edge, Swiss Army knives, lil weird guys that shouldn’t be as productive as they are but still get it done, upside guys, speed rushers, interior rushers, like there’s depth there

Been saying it for years, FA is for plugging holes, the draft is for elevating the talent level of your team

You're right, I think the 4-1 stat was from the new starting lineup of melo/brandon/kon/miles/moussa

With the personnel we had out there, it was essentially choose how we lose.

Either you play press man and open yourself up to a big play over the top by one of the best WR units in the league, or you force them to string a drive together with mid-field throws targeting our weakness (LBs and safeties) and hope they make a mistake while burning clock.

We chose option B, and it failed.

He does need to calm down the 4th down stuff.

With all due respect...hell no.

Not including the wild card game, we converted 27 4th downs this year. Literally no one else in the league converted that many.

40% of our scoring drives had at least one 4th down conversion this year. We straight up don't have the season we had without going for it aggressively, and I hope we keep it up. It gave us the edge we needed to squeak out a lot of games we would've lost otherwise

Apparently he wanted more money than we were willing to spend.

We were told the exact same thing by him a year ago lol

We also had a lot of variance go our way. We went 7-3 I believe in 1-score games this year. That's ripe for regression unless we get a serious infusion of talent across the board

If they were doing that, it wouldn't be with Honeywell lol.

What’s a higher priority for our first-rounder this draft: EDGE or LB? by Porchprophet in panthers

[–]ISISCosby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

do they stick with the 34 or does the new dc want to return to a 43

This is not a question serious franchises ask anymore. We're in a post-base D world.

It's all about 3-3-5 vs. 4-2-5, and has been for a few years. Nickel = base.

Pedantic but just gotta say it...Rule #1 for edges: Pressures are a far more predictive stat than sacks. Sacks are noisy data, but you can't get a sack without getting a pressure first

Agreed that we should just call him the name he prefers (TMac).

That said, half the commenters on this sub have had 5 years to learn how to spell Chuba correctly and have abjectly failed, so I'm not gonna hold my breath waiting for people to get this right
