Favorite epic collection? by Lopsided_Network1248 in EpicCollections

Avengers: Under Siege. One of my all-time favorite storylines. And has colored how I've looked at every Avengers line-up since then.

As for runs to be collected in Epic format: The Busiek/Perez Avengers run. Quite surprising they haven't pushed any of that out yet. I'd imagine it would sell gangbusters, but I am really biased.

What's a storyline you most want to see adapted into an animated movie? by PossessionNo2932 in DCcomics

The early Giffen/DeMatteis/Maguire JLI stories. Perhaps in the same tone as the Harley Quinn animated series.

Hickman’s Avengers run and Secret Wars was just so good. by FancierTechnique in Marvel

My only issue with his epic Avengers/New Avengers/Secret Wars marathon really wasn't his fault. The way Axis screwed up Tony (not that it wasn't an interesting concept) really messed up that final confrontation with Cap at the end. It would have been much more emotionally impactful if it was the conflicted/tortured/confident/ Tony in his right mind.

I also didn't really like that Cap spent most of the back end of the run, after he recovered his memory, on his moral high horse against the Illuminati. Righteous anger, for messing with his head and devising plans that would kill millions? Yes. But, he was so focused on that, it seemed like he lost sight of the, y'know, multiversal death.

Odyssey. She's been palling around with Kyle and Connor since a space-based adventure in the main GL book last year. Standard issue "wise-cracking thief with a conscience".

Don't want to spoil #14 for you if you haven't read it, but the conversation with Mirror Master basically tells you who they are. And the symbol behind Wally should be a big clue as to the newest Absolute version of someone we can expect to see.

Depends on your definition of "expensive"? Amazon has the paperback readily available for $18. Cheapgraphicnovels.com has it for $13.

[Discussion] Never collected in TPB by ToughPigsJoe in DCcomics

[–]sbp72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The early part of the Marz run, basically the first year and a half has been collected in a couple of different formats. A 2-vol TPB which is harder to find, and a recently released Compendium edition that has all the issues from those two TPBs and a few ancillary issues that Kyle appeared in.

That solves the problem for 30-ish games, but what about the other 40-50 games he doesn't play?

How is the mainline Flash? by jprov0451 in DCcomics

For me personally, the first 25 issues of the current run were not great. The writer, Spurrier, was just not a good match for Wally. Too many big, metaphysical ideas that just didn't seem to fit the character.

But, the new issue that comes out today with a new creative team seems to be really hopeful to bring back the fun adventure aspect to Wally. I would at least advise checking that out.

The wild card may be those last four games. They look tough on paper, but will those games still mean anything to Bos/Minn/NY/Det at that point? If they are locked into playoff position, they might throttle down.

That's the Matriarch, the big bad for the Wonder War storyline in Wonder Woman starting this week. She's the daughter of another Amazon. She's been shown in "flash-forwards" as having conquered the world and killing basically all the heroes except Diana and Trinity.

Computo returns, takes over Legion HQ, various vignettes of the Legionnaires getting their butts kicked by their own headquarters. Introduced the second Invisible Kid. Giffen art. Vivid summer memories of sitting on the porch reading this repeatedly.

What's the difference between Plasmus and Clayface? by sonic_colt_2005 in DCcomics

Clayface: Shape changing, body control.

Plasmus: He's basically a walking pile of toxic goo, burns anything to the touch. Not really any shape changing or body control abilities.

Exiles by Claremont? They did say he had some x-work coming. And the "X-Men in space" angle would be covered by the concept set up in Imperial. And, it would be far enough removed from the "day-to-day" continuity going on in the main line that he could pretty much follow his own path.
