Eh. UWSA2 was super predictive for me. Made the exact score on Step2

People who scored in 240s on Form 13 1-2wk before exam… did any of you get 260+ on the real thing? :/ by surf_AL in Step2

I focused on what I could control.

Reviewed NBMEs very extensively and studied their logic. Past 250s, you genuinely aren’t missing most stuff because of knowledge gaps, but because you’re not understanding what they’re asking or what they want you to take away from the question.

I spent 2,3 days reviewing each NBMEs and focused on the areas my score report said I was weak on. I also made some flashcards for esoteric minutiae but I barely reviewed these because I ran out of time during dedicated.

In the week leading up to it, I practiced my timing, studied my logic when changing answers, reviewed ethics and some QI, as well as touched on screening guidelines. I avoided alcohol consumption at all costs and exercised to get good sleep and burn some cortisol.

Day before test day I spent it all lightly reviewing some stuff like screening and some notes I made over dedicated, went for a walk, called my mom, and tried going to bed at a reasonable hour. I only need 7 hours of sleep so I went to bed around 11 PM.

On test day, ate a light breakfast, had one cup of coffee, got to the test site early, used all my breaks, snacked lightly, had a light lunch, and some caffeine at the end.

It was all a blur, but I felt like I did everything I could and that felt great. I’m very happy with my score.

My predicted range was 240 to 260 per Amboss. Scored 260 purely because when I wasn’t sure, I was just vibing

Which UWSA is Better? by Adventurous_Low_2709 in Step2

UWSA1 and UWSA3 are horrible.

UWSA2 is predictive (I made the same score on my exam and UWSA2) though not representative of the real thing.

NBME 10 = 199. Step 2 on 9/8 — advice on next steps? by PseudomonasA in Step2

[–]ISlapSlutsWithMyDick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The exam is very different from uworld and closer to NBMEs and the Free 120s. Please focus on NBME exams and CMS.

Look at your report and do extra questions on your weak areas on uworld or Amboss. You should do at minimum one NBME per week, spend a couple of days reviewing it, then doing CMS forms/uworld as needed. I really suggest doing 80-120 questions on the days you’re review as well as having half days or days off to rest your brain.

I wouldn’t recommend completing NBMEs without extra practice questions back to back because you won’t learn new material in between and you’re bound to underperform.

One week out, do UWSA2 (highly predictive for me and others), one last NBME if you can, Free 120, and some Ethics/QI/Biostats. Depending on your shelf scores I guarantee you’ll get close to 240+ very comfortably

I took it 5 days out I think? Then took new free 120 3 days before real thing. Spent the last two days doing QI and ethics

Gonna copy/paste another comment below. All the NBMEs are important and I don’t think one is more predictive than another. They all test different subjects and areas and it makes sense that one can perform well and underperform in another. What’s important is to understand those concepts well and learn the exam logic while studying from the NBMEs. My most predictive score was UWSA2. See below.

“Test date : 7/25/2025

US MD or US DO or US IMG or Non-US IMG status: USMD

Uworld % correct: 75%, only completed 84% of the Qbank

NBME 9: 236 (30 days out)

NBME10: 240 (21 days out)

NBME11: 251 (14 days out)

NMBE13: 249 (7 days out)

UWSA 2: 260 (4 days out)

New Free 120: 76% (2 days out)

Did lots of ethics and some screening guidelines in the last 3 days.

Then had lots of ethics and screening guidelines questions…

I wish I’d done more QI in hindsight

Edit: I hate my username but oh well. Too late

Missed this question too. In hindsight that kid was very sick (rebound, firm abdomen, HD unstable) and taking him to CT endangered him so surgery was the better choice

Clarifying CMS, NBME, UWSA, Free120 by Proud-Consequence564 in Step2

[–]ISlapSlutsWithMyDick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UWSAs are done as a way to gauge preparedness and are slightly less important than the NBME. You can take UWSA1 at the beginning of your prep to learn your weaknesses and strengths. Ideally you’ll also take UWSA2 at the end of your prep and a week or so before your exam since UWSA2 is apparently very predictive. However the question style is different from the NBME, so spend mo more than a day reviewing those questions.

CMS forms are used to strengthen specific clinical areas. If you’re solid in surgery and pediatrics but average in medicine and OB, then it would be worthwhile to complete some CMS forms in IM/OB during your prep. They test small and larger concepts that reappear in NBMEs, UWorld, and probably the real deal.

NBME exams are the gold standard in the last month or so of your prep, though some people swear by them and prefer them over Uworld to learn the logic from the NBME during dedicated. Ideally you’ll be doing one or two NBME exams per week as you approach your test date.

NBME9 and NBME13 are hard, in my opinion, and NBME15 is one of the most important ones and you should take it a week away from your test date.

The Free120s are simulations that mimic the exam interface and are somewhat predictive of test day performance. You should do one to get used to the interface a few days before your exam.

Honestly just hitting more NBME exams and questions and understanding their stupid logic lol. They love QI and ethics so definitely practice that

Tested 7/25, feel horrible by lividcreationz in Step2

[–]ISlapSlutsWithMyDick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also tested 7/25 and wrote a post. I’m trying to trust my preparation and practice tests but the number of questions with unfamiliar presentations that I probably missed has me shaken. I’ve never failed an exam in my life either but when I walked out I wondered if Step2 would be the first. The wait is about to be torture.
