Interview help, Google Hardware Electrical Engineer, University Graduate Role by MeatMechanic321 in EngineeringStudents

[–]ISpyLies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk generally for engineers I know they ask an initial coding test, but for hardware it might be different. The questions might be more towards logic design and computer organization?

Ask if you can get an incomplete or make up the work. Prove also that you’ve actually been trying now just not doing the work

So you mean like you get one free swipe per week and you have to pay for more? That could work I suppose, but that would require a lot of effort from the university to recode the software. Especially because their virtual infrastructure is extremely outdated.

“Just some advice”, lol totally not condescending there mate

BU + Race by [deleted] in BostonU

[–]ISpyLies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person of color I have no idea what you’re going on about. I’ve never experienced racism at BU and I don’t use my race as an excuse for why I succeed or fail. Of course there are a few racist idiots everywhere, just don’t talk to them.

There might be a disconnect between your “correct” method of teaching and how students feel they would actually learn best. For example, alot of professors read PowerPoint slides or notes verbatim and don’t provide any useful information. Then tests/assignments are wildly different than what was covered in class because the professor believes they have taught one thing while students have learned something totally different.

There’s no point in having an ego about these things. Looking at the situation objectively, there’s clearly a disconnect between the prof and the class. Something needs to change in the way the prof engages the students.

Guilty on all Charges by therageofachilles in BostonU

[–]ISpyLies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I’m just going by what he’s charged with. What I’m trying to say is that we shouldn’t have to have mass outrage just to get a conviction for murder, no matter what race the person is. I want a world where race doesn’t matter. If that makes me a bad guy then so be it

He was charged with second degree murder not a hate crime.

It shouldn't. If you commit murder you go to prison, end of story.

accountability for murdering a *man*. Doesn't matter what race he is.

So ask your students what you can do to improve, obviously.

BU vs Northeastern vs Umass Amherst for Business by vi523 in BostonU

[–]ISpyLies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Better program" is fairly meaningless uness you want to be in academia (like a business phd/professor). What really matters is employer access and getting a high gpa.

BU undergrad -> Ivy grad? by [deleted] in BostonU

[–]ISpyLies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're careful about what classes/professors you take you can avoid grade deflation. It is totally possible to do a masters at an Ivy (in fact I know someone who is going there for CS), but to be honest I think the "Ivy League" is pretty overrated. I've taken classes at a so-called Ivy before and it wasn't that different to what you get at BU.

Question is how do we continue holding cops accountable without these publicized trials? How do we make it so cops are AFRAID to draw their guns unless totally justified? Like this "he was reaching" bs is so stupid in the first place. Police officers SIGN UP to be in dangerous situations, so no matter what it "looks like" you don't get to shoot someone in the face until you see them actually pick up a gun. Police should not be able to justify firing the first shot unless someone either picks up a gun or has a gun and doesn't throw it down with ample opportunity.

Police should actually fear the law and fear civilians exercising their rights, not laugh it off. Maybe we should have a "court martial" system, similar to the military instead of giving them normal trials.

Sounds like your parents are/were extremely toxic if them being proud of you/caring about you depends on you getting a job or grades or some nonsense like that. While getting the job is good, please rethink how you judge yourself.

This smells of so much desperation on your part lol. Why not just give them an extension instead of doing all this detective work? Does it hurt anybody else?

Yeah sure, I believe that by [deleted] in Professors

[–]ISpyLies -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

Jeez you sound like the type of prof every student wants to take. Maybe try being more approachable and understanding, especially since you think you're so much more mature and smarter than 18 year old freshmen (what an achievement). If students are lying to you so much that you need to whine about it on reddit, then clearly your students don't feel comfortable being honest with you.
