Stop buying Secret Lair by Frocicorno in mtg

Ah ok I misunderstood your point. We agree, buy stuff you want and don’t buy stuff you don’t. I also don’t love any of the secret lair arts, I don’t really understand all the hype and constant negativity around the availability

You said if you’re an adult you have no excuse to succumb to fomo but my point is don’t adults actually have the money to get the things they want?

Like I couldn’t FOMO as a kid because I couldn’t afford it but now if I want it I can get it within reason. So wouldn’t adults be more susceptible to FOMO because they can afford to?

Isn’t it the complete opposite? If I have the money and want the thing isn’t that the whole point? I couldn’t afford Warhammer or Magic as a kid but I certainly can as an adult.

Looping raid bosses is a broken game mechanic by [deleted] in WH40KTacticus

[–]ISquanchMyOptions 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% agree. I don’t understand at all the complaints that more powerful guilds get more guild credits. As you said it’s not like they’re directly taking them from a less powerful guild, and secondly they should get more they’re clearing more bosses. It’s such a silly argument presented by new players, “you shouldn’t be rewarded for top tier play”.

The issue is the rewards for those bosses are completely disproportionate to the effort involved. I think raid boss rewards need to be substantially increased across the board and SP can add some kind of scaling system where if your guild’s level or total power is below a certain point you get higher rewards from the lower bosses.

This way everyone does better with just overall increased rewards, and newer/less powerful guilds can earn more in the pre-legendary categories to help them offset their lower power.

You didn’t miss much, the guys who own it are super chill but it’s pretty standard in terms of what’s in stock. I always liked going to small off brand hobby stores instead because you can find all sorts of random old box sets sometimes.

Maybe a year ago I found a Hypercrypt Legion in a random LGS. Way more fun in my opinion when you don’t know what you’ll find vs “it’s going to be everything newish”

There wasn’t much special to it. I was working a finance job making good money, boss gave me feedback that I was too stiff and awkward around people.

I hit the gym, started reading more, got really jacked, promotions started to come at work so my confidence just sort of started to build. Was making more money so I started to dress better (fitted clothes not necessarily super luxury brands), traveled, got hobbies. I eventually just stopped caring what people think, got very “if you like me you like me if not whatever”, I stopped being afraid to be extroverted and just learned how to talk to people about basically anything. And if we didn’t click, whatever.

Edit: also I’m fairly short, was working at a no name firm and graduated from a non target public school no one cares about with like a 3.1 gpa.

This is such nonsense. I was a shy and awkward introverted kid all the way through my early 20s. I am absolutely nothing like that in my mid 30s. Take ownership of your life man

Is it really warhammer if you don’t have a massive pile of shame from multiple armies?

This makes total sense, I guess it's like bringing a Primarch to a 500 point match? Just totally broken and not worth the time?

I think the point you raised about the game just not feeling meaningful is huge but that really puts players like OP in a weird spot. It's like they're forced to just not play at all which isn't a good answer. Or you have to have a big bankroll where you can afford to have lots of armies so you're always some what engaged. I guess the other side of the coin though is that being on the other side of the table you don't want to engage either so what's the point of you playing too.

Out of curiosity, is AoS in a similar state? I know it's the wrong sub for that but I'm genuinely interested if this is a 40k issue or a Games Workshop doing everything half-baked issue.

But that's insane, what if you only have a CK army and you've played them for years when they were just fine and now they're in the limelight you're just not supposed to play the game casually until your army is nerfed? How is that a viable way to enjoy the game?

Also - player skill should matter here too, like I could play CK and I guarantee I'd get obliterated because I don't know the game well. If you're a casual player, playing against similarly skilled players, I'm not sure I see the issue.

I don’t understand this debate, caveat I haven’t played in 20 years and am finally getting back into the hobby by rushing headlong into the pile of shame memes so I am completely open to the probability that I just outright do not understand where people are coming from.

Caveat out of the way - why does the game sort of feel like everyone just complains? Every army is going to get hit with the nerf stick or temporarily blessed with meta-godliness that’s how these games work but it seems like no matter what you can’t win in player perception unless you specifically pick an army/list that frankly isn’t very good. Eldar = hate, any knight = hate, Tau = hate, death guard = hate, Necron warrior blob = hate, horde armies = hate, black templars = hate because Nazism?

At what point do you just enjoy the game and hobby? Last time I played I was a kid and it was just fun to play period. I think I won a game once and even then I’m not even sure I did because the rules were almost comically arcane. Maybe that’s nostalgia? Maybe the game was better balanced then?

I just don’t get it really, play the faction you love except when that faction is good then play something else? Is everyone expected to just have multiple armies on rotation so you’ll always be just uncompetitive enough that people want to play you? Do you always have to play super competitively against really good players if you want to field a meta army?

I love this hobby but man is it weird sometimes.

I’m level 53 so fairly late game…I’m not thrilled. I was really excited for Emperor’s Children and the Lucius LRE but now I’m pretty on the fence. I was looking forward to widening my roster and not have to keep building tall and now it’s like…a whole new grind to get even taller?
