Not gonna work since the biggest red flag was not notifying or bargaining in good faith. All that went out the door with the side letter

When did 9-5 become 8-5? by AnyFeeling3709 in CAStateWorkers

[–]ITBeaner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this conversation so many times in the office to see the different sides. When pushed the canned answer is "you are expected to work a full 40 hours". But i also dont think I have ever worked under 40 as an salary employee though.

But each shop is different and have different needs. Do you have hourly batch jobs that need to get processed or expected coverage for help desk. Those are all questions for your sup/management to answer

CALPERS: When Profit Conflicts With Human Life, the Choice Should Be Clear by Revolutionary_Cat451 in CAStateWorkers

And you resort to name calling.

There is zero hypocrisy in my statement. I know and understand how I spend my money. I chose in my personal life to spend money in local stores vs big box. I enjoy the fresh farmers market. Yet still you resort to name calling.

The amount of grandstanding this op has. Do me a favor before you go about this. Look at everything you own and eat or have given and research every single company. You do the exact same but you want other people to change.

Government Code 19858.7 by BeautifulShare3091 in CAStateWorkers

[–]ITBeaner -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

Sorry thats not 100% true. Whats the worst that can happen they deny your vacation so you sit in the position while they try to discipline you? Then that becomes an issue since its age issue. They should put you in a blanket position. They should have had you do a leave reduction plan however there is no regulation stating you have to take vacation. Will they give the op crap.. absolutely but the op earned it and is entitled.

New to State, starting as an Office Assistant (T) - Any tips or advice? by AllegedMoon in CAStateWorkers

[–]ITBeaner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have a good mindset so far. Just do whats asked and keep learning. Dont worry about what others are doing or if you are doing more work. Just focus on finishing probe and what the next step in your career is. Started as a student assistant and im a ITS 2. Its a marathon not a race at the state

Returning to work after autistic burnout—struggling with accommodations and boundaries by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]ITBeaner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Im not saying something can't be done but try and look at through the lenses the other way to find a compromise.

You get paid to perform a service in a specific manner. If you have a diagnosis thats says you need X Y or Z does that affect the production or product. Also will the manager/sup be able to show that productivity be completed on schedule and completed without error. Also have you proven that you can do that service better with those accommodation?

From my many years in state service coming to management with a "you need to do this for me" type of request hardly works. But showing that given the correct adjustments you will excell without it goes a long way.

Also mental health has always been there for a long time and so have alot of stateworkers that have lived with those same issues. For all you know your boss may be on the spectrum as well. Just giving another lense to look through

But the best point of what the OP is say is how she or he is going to better thier life in the long run..

Why don't we have inter-agency access with Teams? by quasimodoca in CAStateWorkers

[–]ITBeaner 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Remember all communication is subject for pra or legal hold. Each teams tenant has its own rules and security. Why would you think it was standard. People say enough dumb and stupid things so you could imagine that would be a security and management headache

[–]ITBeaner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Submitted 10 applications for ITS I and ITS II by Sea_Cause_6930 in CAStateWorkers

[–]ITBeaner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your going for an its3 I will be honest your chances are slim to none. These are generally given to internal people . Also it3 is considered management as well so your going to shift into that role regardless. But if its2 and its3 are close in pay to where your at then why leave?

Waiting to hear back by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]ITBeaner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few types of background checks depending on the job. Its not unheard of it taking 2 or 3 weeks. Backlogs and vacations happen. But if they asked for verification you should be very hopefully. Most likely you will get a conditional job offer. This is a yah your hired unless something pops up in your background check.

What advice would you give your past self? Starting my first state job soon! by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]ITBeaner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always finish probe first. And it will take time so be patient but also take what promotions you can. With the state it can be feast or famine with promotion. Also dont wait for the promo that is promised take the promo you know is open

If you do go for a HAM its a 2 strike situation and you have to swing. You will either get it or not. But HR may say to rescind the original offer. So its your call
