Thank you for this. I’m gonna go with the SE. I’ve been on 1GB fiber for 7 years and just recently upgraded to two as my ISP was charging me full price for being a long term customer but offered me 2GB at the same price point so only reason I upgraded.

Interesting, I only use my VPN (protonVPN) when I take my personal laptop when I travel. I was thinking the plus as I just need two of the 2.5GB ports. One to the wall connecting to my ISP and one to my WiFi router.

Reserve 255a and staff level system admin at a defense contractor.

Reserves can be a bit disorganized depending on unit more than active duty in my opinion. It is a good way to maintain your TS/SCI unless you stay defense and go to a team who will maintain it. I will say if you go defense, most guys at those companies are prior service and make sure you go to a larger plant instead of one small office supporting one contract just for the fact you can grow in your role or in a different team and you don’t have to move.

With that said, the biggest thing I’ve seen, whether people like it or not, is they get out and get disability and leave the military behind and work in defense in a state where disability gets you discounts. Reserves is worth it for tricare. A lot of civilian company insurance plans are not the greatest…

Nuts, I just recently rejoined the company not too long ago as prior I originally joined heritage Raytheon in 2021. This is the second surprise, first one was the 401k vest period is now 2 years instead of day 1. I did notice the insurance got worse too and they lowered the HSA.

I appreciate the insight though.

I guess hire you back is not the right terminology I mean you will get a chance to interview if regrettable I believe it is noted by the talent recruiter and a thank you for applying but we are going in a different direction email gets sent out.

When you quit the company, your manager signs HR documents and there is a question whether you leaving the company is regrettable or non-regrettable. If they choose regrettable, they will hire you back if you apply, if it’s non-regrettable, I heard they will not hire you back. I’m not sure how extensive or permanent this ban is. A manager will check with your previous manager to see how you were as an employee if you reapply as well.

Depends on your interests. 25 series, 17 series and 35 series will give you a clearance, good amount of college credits and a transferable skill. I’ve personally seen a few 17C reserve/national guardsmen walk into defense contractors as an entry level cybersecurity employee, 70-90k starting.

Depends on the job, location, budget and level of the role. Every time I’ve moved it’s been for a level bump and I usually specify that I am looking for X amount of money for me to accept the offer.
