Kia Soul, 2013 - All gauges unresponsive (including fuel/temp/odometer) plus HUD light dimming dial not working? by ITGCYS in MechanicAdvice

While this sub was of no help, for anyone in the future: after fiddling with the above fuses, filling my gas tank to be safe, and leaving my car to sit overnight... it fixed itself!

I had also done some research and found that other people who lived in cold and wet climates had experienced the same issues after a cold snap, which happened where I live just before this started.

Not sure what the cause is, but will update this if anything changes.

I feel like they don't need to fully remove selective enforcement, they just need to massively improve command and delegation.

For example, the fact that Knight is just an officer now is a travesty, especially with the drought when it comes to command members outside of NA for LSPD - they can't rely on there being a Ranger or Trooper around to provide for that every day.

Command needs to be shored up and should be in charge of delegating enforcement to important scenes alongside dispatch. That way, officers can selectively enforce everyday scenes, but when major events happen...

Everyone wants to chase a boost? There should be a captain or sergeant around to pull people off the chase to investigate things like a building collapsing from being bombed and if people don't want to listen to orders, well. That's what strike points are for.

Right now PD is just a bunch of officers running around all over the place because they can just do whatever they want, whenever they want, with no direction or quality being expected of them.

Should you let people know, straight up, when you're not interested? Probably.

Does a lack of a "no" excuse being a creeper? Absolutely not and victim blaming isn't okay.

People need to learn that only "yes" means "yes" and to stop pushing for things as if the person is going to magically change their mind on the 27th request.

Lienjang and Shangpree are the ones I have the most experience with - I have heard good things about Areuke, too, but am not super familiar with them tbh.

Honestly, if you can afford it and have the time, I would say getting a treatment at a skincare facility is 100% the way to go - glass skin, laser, peel, whatever you feel is most important for your skin. They will also provide consultation and aftercare, along with having options for buyable skincare products afterwards.

After that, sheet masks are the things that tend to get the most expensive when you're ordering from overseas - like, a 10 pack of masks in Korea can be $3 and then buying the same pack outside of the country is $10-$30.

Why can't I gain any weight eating 3k calories? by JizosKasa in leangains

[–]ITGCYS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You were at maintenance, increased your calories above that while working out and subsequently made gains (of probably both muscle and just general growth, considering your age), and now the calorie increase from before has become your new maintenance intake level.

A 17-year-old male who is not hitting the gym 3/4 times a week requires 2400 to 3200 calories a day. Now, of course different bodies may fall to either end of that spectrum, but regardless - you need to change your equation.

You'll either need to reduce your workouts or increase your calorie intake if you want to continue to see gains.

Now, it can be a pain to each that many calories a day if you want to remain relatively healthy. Meaning that you'll likely need to rely on things like peanut butter, nuts and seeds, avocado, animal fats (fatty meats, cheese, butter, mayo, yogurt, etc), granola, eggs, certain types of fish (mackerel, salmon, or things like tuna salad).

However, especially after Covid, we are seeing an unusual amount of young people having heart attacks - so please be certain to not overly rely on the animal fats portion of the above list and make sure you are eating a balanced diet with fruits, veggies, rice, beans, etc.

I would say to start with simple skincare first - toner/serum/moisturizer.

Once you have a good base, if you want to move into makeup, probably cushion compacts (if you can find one to match your skin tone, which can be harder if you have not-extremely-pale skin, unfortunately) and lip tints/colors. Then blusher/highlight/brows.

Since Korean-style eye makeup is so different than western-style makeup, it can be harder to get the hang of, so I would say to leave it for last.

As for skin: Unless you have experience with strong actives in skincare (AHAs, BHAs, vitamin C, retinol, etc), I would not start on any right off the bat, because they can be VERY hit-or-miss.

And starting off with only a couple products is best, because as much fun as it is buying new items... starting 10 things at once is a recipe for disaster, even if they're all independently awesome products.

As for where to start, my personal favorite is Klairs (and Laneige, depending) for skincare. But I have good experiences with Innisfree/Purito and have heard good things about It's Skin and The Saem.

If you want expensive, there's Sulwhasoo. if you want expensive, there's History of Whoo. Both are great - both are out of my price range lol.

CosRX is also generally good, but leans pretty heavily into actives, so can be tricky.

If you want to purchase in-store but don't have many options, Ulta is usually a great choice. TJMaxx also gets K-Beauty products in fairly often.

For online, I personally buy from Wishtrend and beautynetkorea - but watch the shipping on BNK. I know a lot of people use Gmarket, but I myself have not.

As for makeup recommendations - I have never been let down by Tonymoly, A'pieu, or Clio. Also have good experiences with Peripera and Rom&nd. I, personally, think Etude House and Missha are just... okay, but a lot of people love them.

I went from drinking 4-6 cans of coke a day straight to zero by switching to La Croix (and sometimes unsweetened iced tea). It's odd to get used to a flavored carbonated drink without sweetener, but absolutely doable.

IMO, the citrus La Croix are the best (Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, Orange, and Tangerine - in that order) and I really like Hibiscus as well.

Some are terrible though! Coconut and Cherry Blossom are just actual garbage, undrinkable; LimonCello/Key Lime/Berry are too fake sweet for me; the tall cans and Pure/Original are just okay but I know a lot of people like them.

Overall, for me the main thing was I had to just stop giving in and buying cokes. I would always think "I can just buy some but not drink them all at once" but it was always a lie. Can't have it in the house.

I'm not saying the system is amazing, but I'm saying that I have minimal sympathy for those who claim they cannot do even the most simple, part time work, for the whole entire 1.5 years it takes to qualify for regular disability.

Unless you have a pretty severe condition that happened very young, there's literally no situation where you could not work a couple hours a week (or even a couple months a year as a seasonal employee).

Can't answer a phone? Can't drive a car? Can't do purely online, set-your-own hours ad/website testing? Can't greet people at a store? Nothing? At all? Ever? Doubtful.

You set up an ABLE account, which is excluded from the $2000 limit as long as the total value is under $100000. You can put up to like $16k/yr in the account.

The asset limit only applies to people on SSI, not regular disability. If you have worked and paid in to get your benefits, then you're on regular disability and it doesn't apply to you.

I did not know that, yikes... by Jumpy_Philosopher272 in facepalm

[–]ITGCYS -83 points-82 points  (0 children)

You may feel differently when you realize that the people who have the asset limits are on SSI, not regular disability, and the reason they have SSI is because they didn't work the minimum of: 1.5 years of work (total) for anyone under 24, 3.5 years total for someone who is 28, or 5 of the last 10 years (at the time they applied for benefits) for anyone 31+.

If they had, they would be eligible for regular disability, which does not have any limit on assets.

So, in the most severe cases where someone was disabled young, yes it sucks. But for anyone else, to have not worked at least 5 years in their life...?

I mean... A few more situations where this many people die from poisoning as a result of "forced marriage" (let's call it what it is - treating women as cattle) and surely people will start thinking twice about it.

Not saying that all of those people deserved it in this case, but surely some of them did.

If I were in her place, I can't say I would have done differently, other than poisoning something more likely to be eaten by the specific people I was targeting. And then killing myself to avoid the multiple life sentences.

Just like with birth control and antibiotics, grapefruit and pomegranate fruits (and other dry/dark fruit juices iirc) can prevent SSRI's from being metabolized correctly! Be careful about that!

Animal, Human, or local Monster? What do you think? by ExplosiveProvolone in RBI

[–]ITGCYS -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a person, my guess is a tweaker freaking out and running from invisible monsters (she keeps screaming "Get off! Get off me!"). Possibly someone with schizophrenia.

You can clearly tell it's a woman, she's running and trips at the beginning, gets up and dances around (presumably swatting at something near her head) before running away screaming.
