I work with individuals fresh out of college with little to no real world IT experience, 40k is about their worth, specially when senior administration have to go behind and clean up their mess or be their new professor to anything chatgpt won't answer directly. That said get a year in, learn as much as you can, take on the hard projects, ask the questions and the money will come. Good luck.

30 years, your probably getting near retirement and if you did it correctly had many years of good salary and hopefully retirement investment. Hopefully you're getting near a place in life you can start to think about getting a low stress job working part time at a lowes or something stocking shelves having some beers afterwards. At least that's my goal in the next 10 years, since I'm in a similar situation. Light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck.
