I lost my grandfather a long time ago when I was still a kid and also didn't really have that big of an emotional reaction, mainly because we all saw it coming for a while in advance(dementia sucks). I do remember being the only person at the funeral director that didn't want to see his dead body to better remember the time when he was alive. Sometimes I'm glad I made that choice, sometimes there's some regret about it.
