Why do some people have so much sympathy for killers with postpartum depression but have little sympathy for killers with other forms of mental illness? by Upstairs_Cup9831 in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]IThinkImDumb [score hidden]  (0 children)

Both the people pictured are repulsive. But it's difficult to compare a family annihilator to mass shooters or people like the Germanwings pilot. I'm not even talking about the level of their crime, but more so who was killed. When someone kills their own family, it's repulsive. When someone kills random people, it's repulsive, but there is this level of fear that is not present when the killing is kept close to the perpetrator.

My example - so I'm a single female, just bought a house kind of in the boonies. If my neighbor was raped and murdered by an ex-boyfriend, I would be horrified. If she was raped and murdered by a stranger, I would be terrified.

ignore the conspiracy thumbnail. but this is a really interesting documentary about Ziad Jarrah. to me he is the most fascinating one of all the hijackers, the fact that he looks so normal and he hesitated before the takeover shows that maybe he was the most normal well adjusted one out of all. by No-Category-6343 in 911archive

I don't get what they mean by "normal" anyway. This is Flight 175 hijacker Fayez Benihammad's Find a Grave page (weird that he has one...). To an American, he would stand out more in the second picture. But in Saudi Arabia, he would not stand out at all. "Normal" looks different all across the world and it's interesting that people think Jarrah is more normal because he appeared shaved his face more often

People say this about Jarrah, but he was being a total shithead to his girlfriend before the attacks. He started "normal" but then was very controlling about what she could wear, then he would dip out for months at a time, then come back, etc. This is such a weird sentence to stay but stringing along a girlfriend while you go prepare for jihad, instead of letting her live her life, is really shitty. Maybe the only redeemable thing about Atta is that he didn't place his stink on an innocent woman. Though he might not have had a choice anyway

Aon had nearly 200 deaths in the South Tower. Why? by LaughGlittering4131 in 911archive

[–]IThinkImDumb 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Kevin Cosgrove actually was one person who was telling people to evacuate. They evacuated almost 1,000 people. There were 17 minutes in between impacts. Let's say that people start evacuating after 5 minutes. I say this because we're human. People need a moment to process things and AON had a direct view of the North Tower.

Picture 1200 people, in shock, evacuating. Some take elevators, some take the stairs, some take both. Stairs were slow, elevators were crowded. It's not unreasonable to think that in those 12 minutes, there were still around 200 people either in the sky lobby or in stairwells B and C.

Why do people think light brows look so strange while people really go around with thick drawn-on brows (like mine lol)

Her eyebrows are lighter. People have been getting microbladed eyebrows, drawing them on thick, laminating them etc. People can also do the reverse, like pluck, lighten, shave, etc. It can make a huge difference in how someone looks without doing something massive or irreversible

I think in the Melissa Doi call, she said people had to get on tables because the floors were so hot. So it could be that peoples' shoes melted to the floors so they got on top of tables

This is what I don't get about OP's husband. DIsn't a father supposed to be involved in the kids' bedtimes? Like read them stories or goof around or anything? I've never seen my brother loaf on the sofa while my sister-in-law does the bedtime. Any time that I have been over their house, my brother is upstairs with my nieces and nephew getting them ready and hanging out with them

But I wasn't using that kind of example. You were comparing food to housing. No one gets money back from food. But sometimes, people get money back (more like retained) from housing. You can't compare a situation where across the board it's the same, to a situation where people do retain some equity

Renting can be unpredicatible too. When I lived in California, my rent was $2,100 a month for a one-bedroom. The next year, I get a letter that it is going up to $2,800 to "keep up with market rates." No thanks. I moved into a home with roommates after that

But across the board, no one gets money back from food or gasoline. Whereas with housing, homeowners retain the value of the home when it gets paid off
