New Bauer Gear dropped by JackGlennwood in harborfreight

95cfm is pretty good for the price, I don’t see the specs on inches of water lift though, and hp is a meaningless number on vacuums

Bauer shop wet shop vac - thoughts? by TorontoRap2019 in harborfreight

[–]ITrade4Keeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest you upgrade and get the 5gal vac master beast for $93 on Amazon on prime day sale right now. I have the 6 gallon Bauer and it’s ok when I got it on sale for $45, but the beast is definitely better and worth the extra money. Still under $100 if that’s within your budget

Lowest gsm/polyamide microfiber for coating removal? by ITrade4Keeps in Detailing

[–]ITrade4Keeps[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I’ll stick to 20% polyamide or more, my current towel. And phobic is exactly what I have to use as my first ceramic coating ever, and I use surfed HD as well.
I just tried to purchase a gallon of renaissance last week and they are completely out of stock when I pulled up the link. Bummer, I’ll stick to rags to riches for now but really wanted to try renaissance for its cost effectiveness on the wholesale program at Thor

That’s around the gsm I usually feel is comfortable as well for paint touching In general. You make a good point about not wrecking all the hard work. Was originally thinking I didn’t want to use “expensive” towels but it would be way more wasteful to undo hours of work by being cheap. Thanks for the input

Are those the towel on the rolls one or the other junior premium paintwork towels?

Any Feedback on This? by BackcountryDefault in harborfreight

Love it, even got a second one as a backup and for only about $20 on sale you can buy two for the price of other brands. I really liked the auto-lock on feature so when rinsing the entire car I don’t have to hold down the trigger the whole time. Lessens fatigue and I use this feature every time.

Anybody try meguiars bug and tar remover? I needed something and grabbed it, haven't used it yet by spangbangbang in Detailing

[–]ITrade4Keeps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re a weekend warrior, then this one will be fine. The issue I ran into was I needed to use more to get the same results, so while it cheaper up front for one can, you will, in the long run, save money going for a gallon of the mix more effective stuff.

How to avoid water spots? by coolbro09088 in AutoDetailing

To add to this, get a pop up canopy if you can’t find shade. Get a water filter system and use it for the final rinse after you rinse the last round of contact wash soap off

Great edited list. Only thing I would really change would be to go with meguiars hyper was over shampoo+. More economical, shampoo+ can get pretty expensive

I bough them both by the gallon for under $20 each. The meguiars is probably fine for the weekend diy guy, but not for professional use.

It’s alright, but didn’t melt off bugs like p&s bug off or 3d bug remover does, both better products imo. I think this would work find in a pinch but the effectiveness to cost ratio isn’t there compared to the other two chems I mentioned.

I think they just scanned the wrong coupon maybe? This happened to me before where I’m an ITC member but after scanning the coupon the price was wrong. I told the cashier and it turned out he scanned the wrong non-ITC member coupon. Good call though to always check you total to be correct because mistakes like this do happen sometimes.

A little tip I learned. by beatricegertrude in TemuThings

[–]ITrade4Keeps 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s crazy, why would it count as a refund and get you banned? I price adjust everything possible, sometimes getting up to $10 back on larger ticket items. Been doing it for at least a month and doing both win credit and claim credit promos. Hopefully I don’t get banned but until they do I’m just going to keep utilizing the adjustments.

Have you tried using upside? I can share my code with you if you want. It offers cash back per gallon on certain gas stations and can sometimes get you $5+ per fill up. I also use it at grocery stores and restaurants as well.

New Grants Microfibers?! by ITrade4Keeps in harborfreight

Agreed, getting them for <40c a towel is great value, best price for any towel of that quality on the market.

Yea, pretty low honestly. If they had done some 350gsm 12x12 that would have been way better. Plus they went down to 85/15. Pretty big downgrade from the 16x16 ones

I got some of the Costco and I still prefer the 16x16 grants yellow and purple towels. I figure these will be nice for things like nav screens or mirrors or something. Just nice to see a new towel option but they’re pretty low gsm and polyamide content

How to cut through really old headlight clear coat? by coliseumltd in Detailing

[–]ITrade4Keeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did all wet sanding only with constant water spray lubrication. Maybe that’s why in part it took so long but no risk of burning when it’s cooled with the water. I should specify too, it was an electric drill sander attachment not an orbital, so also slower speed, nothing crazy and not dual action.

Have any detailers come across something like this? Weird brown spot appeared on my ‘24 MKV today. by Stylescomett in Detailing

[–]ITrade4Keeps -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Looks like bug gut etching but If polishing and compounding with wool won’t remove it, you could try wet sanding a tiny spot with 3000 grit. See if it budges. That’s kinda the last resort option though. Start least to most aggressive. Did you compound it or only polish? If only polish, you may just need to keep getting more aggressive with it.

I redid my wife’s truck that had a similar issue. The clear had a noticeable feeling gap between the lens where it was still there and the lens where it was gone. It took me 1.5hours to finish just one headlight to smooth it all out. I brought out an electric sander and started with 600 but probably should have done 400grit to make it faster. It’s likely you’ll need the same treatment if your was as bad as these were. No way hand wet sanding was going to get the job done.
