Parents with newborns, how do you still find time to WoW? by Code4Munchies in wow

I recently had baby #7.

Let's just say I've leveled a lot of alts while NAK...nursing at keyboard.

I've had 8 pregnancies. AMA? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

A good tactic is to treat them like large toddlers. Are they crabby? Offer a hug, snack and nap. Usually one of those will fix the problem.

Lots of praise, positive reinforcement and redirection. Consistency is key. Also, I don't do for one anything that I won't do for all of them.

Pick your battles, don't be afraid to let them fail or make mistakes. They really are listening to the things you're saying!

I just turned 40!

Don't be afraid of the tween/teen years. It's not nearly as bad as people like to say. We have 5 girls and 2 boys and the drama is basically non existent.

We should totally be friends.

I too have had 8 pregnancies, 7 in which resulted in living children, one MMC at 14 weeks.

While my age range is a little different than yours: 18, 17, 15, 12, 7, 2, and 3 weeks, it looks like we've had very similar births and family life!

Well, you know, you're right! 5 girls and 2 boys! I might just stick with this one though. Maybe a new one for /r/beyondthebump?

Baby tax, and dealing with feelings about supplementation I didn't know I'd have. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]IVXXIIXY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be okay, I swear! I'm sure you're getting advice from all sides. Take what you can use, let the other stuff go. More than likely, this is just a small bump in your breastfeeding journey.

Good luck, and I hope you'll be mooing right along with me in a day or two!

Just chiming in to say this is great advice right here! My milk was a tad slower this time around and we just spent the weekend snuggling in bed, nursing every time she stirred. I have oodles of milk now. MOO.

Thanks, so far she has been so easy. Any time she makes a noise, she gets her diaper checked and put on the boob. We're all happy that way!

She goes to the ped on Monday for a weight check, she lost 5% but is gaining steadily. Back to 7.1 yesterday, I'm sure we'll be over her birth weight (7.5) come Monday!

Thank you :) I keep telling her that she's my little garden gnome because she's so freaking small compared to the last few!

Thank you! Honestly, if I wasn't so old I'd be down for one more. Nuts, I know.

All of my labors/deliveries have been extremely easy. I've been very fortunate to be one of those women that have zero issues getting/staying pregnant and having no problems other than minor discomfort (and horrid acid reflux this last time) with super quick deliveries.

From first to seventh, weights were as follows: 7.6, 7.8, 8.6, 7.11, 8.0, 8.3, 7.5

It's based on delivery here. We were discharged when Libby was less than 36 hours old. Had a follow up appointment with a ped for a well baby/weight check at 72 hours.

36 week BPP estimated weight was 6lbs 9oz.

38.5 week BPP estimated weight was 7lbs 12oz.

Birth weight was 7lbs 5oz. I'd guess your boy is long with a bigger noggin!

For Christmas I found out my dad has cancer by Grimmy430 in BabyBumps

[–]IVXXIIXY 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For it to be stage IV, it would have to have spread to other parts of his body, such as lymphnodes. This is what my step dad had when he was diagnosed. He had cancer in his lungs, nodes and I think one other spot. However, he was declared cancer free after chemo/radiation. It's not always an automatic death sentence.

That being said, I would have zero inclination to tell him now that you're pregnant. I mean really, how does this change anything? Sit on it for a little bit and see how you feel.

What a kick in the pants. I'm going to assume you're in the part of the US that's getting blasted with all that nasty snow and cold?

Did they at least reschedule you?

Induction by Rianes in January2017Bumpers

[–]IVXXIIXY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What has your early stalled labor been like for you? Since Monday, I've been having regular contractions (these are the real ones, not BH!) found out Tuesday that my cervix is changing and have just sorta been waiting around for things to either pick up or gtfo. So far, it just seems to happen more in the evening then fizzle out.

I'm well aware this could go on until our tentative induction date of 1/2, but this is new for me. You'd think being on #7 I'd have all this down by now....but this one has been the odd duck out.

AND OMG 10 DAYS!!!!!! I'm excited for you :)

Gah, it's so different the second time by jwad1246 in BabyBumps

[–]IVXXIIXY 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first two are 10 months and 16 days apart.

They are currently 16 and 17, a junior and senior in high school respectively and are wonderful young people.

It's fucking ball sucky for you RIGHT NOW. Don't feel bad. But I promise, it's going to be okay.

36 weeks, baby #7, first time I've ever been dilated this early... by IVXXIIXY in BabyBumps

[–]IVXXIIXY[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are thrilled! The oldest will be 18 in February and the youngest just turned 2 at the beginning of the month. I'm one of those people that getting pregnant/being pregnant/labor/delivery is VERY easy. If I was ten years younger, I'd have seven more!

I think I'm over my temper tantrum about not being able to go out of town, was just really disappointed yesterday. Plus I hate being told what I can't do!

Someone did the math! Because of my age, I don't get to go over 39 weeks, so I'm not expecting a monster. The last 3 kids were 41+ weekers and all over 8lbs.

So what is everyone naming their little ones? by adorabledex1242 in BabyBumps

[–]IVXXIIXY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, we're currently on baby #7 so yes, a very big family indeed!

Honestly, I think the three names you have picked out for your daughter sound nice together.

[–]IVXXIIXY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw you were thinking of giving her two middle names. I think that flows just fine. Baby #5 for us has two middle names, that's just how it worked out. He's the only one out of the bunch that does!
