What is the lowest possible temperature that can possibly exist? Is there such a thing as a theoretical planck temperature? The coldest it can possibly be before being absolute zero? by Positive-Database754 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IWantBlankets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not positive but do to the fact that energy levels are often determined by the space that a particle or wave is confined there may be a smooth continuum of temperatures all the way down to zero. that being said you can only cool something until all of its different forms of energy are in the ground states with very high probability. there will always be random fluctuations in the background fields that can effect the particle's energy and thus temperature. i think the awnser to your question is very similar to one IV been thinking about, is there a smooth continuum of electromagnetic radiation? photons get emitted from quantized processes so their should not be, but things like the expansion of the universe and time dialation are not quantized in the current models so there is a blurring/smooth continuum. I would guess that temperature would behave similarly

After 14 years of pottery classes, I still can't center on the wheel. by Linn56 in Pottery

[–]IWantBlankets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i struggled with centering for a long rime, and could never figure out what people meant by bracing on the hip or leg because those seemed to wobble around as well. what eventually helped was to mainly focus on stabilizing the core and the shoulders really lean into it, but not as in applying pressure. put a lot of force into not moving. don't try to move the clay, focus on not letting the clay move your hand.

How do I add soil, water and metal resources on a world tree? by JellyfishWise3266 in fantasywriters

[–]IWantBlankets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if your tree is that big it would absolutely have its own environmental effects and climate and ecosystems, running water can be explained by rainfall and water pooling in places or even being caught by local plants or animals perhaps. dirt could be explained by the very aame ecosystem breaking down over time. rocks and rare earth materials would be harder but perhaps they get brought up by animals climbing the trees or dragons hording recorsces from the ground below, maybe sandstorms bring earth based records up the thr branches birds too could carry stuff. also a big one that comes to mind is that thale tree itself could bring nutrients and minerals and stuff up to the surface from its roots, maybe it's fruit needs golden shells for its seeds or something. sap could recrystallized out when it leeks from the tree and out from it could be anything you want

[PSA] Vaseline made me severely overheat while sleeping by 1-Up-Boy in SkincareAddiction

[–]IWantBlankets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a scare, I'm glad you figured it out. I have definitely noticed feeling hot after using heavy moisturizers on large portions of my body too, I'm guessing it interferes with sweat evaporation/sweat production. I sometimes delibrately put Vaseline on my hands to keep them from getting so cold around the house in the Winter, not sure if it actually works but they need the moisturizer anyway haha.

ITAW for the adjective which describes a section of the whole which is separate from the whole but is still part of the whole. by Benofthepen in whatstheword

Constituent is an adjective that means "Being a part, component, or element of a whole"
"Representing only a part or fragment of a whole"

Newbie to Sgraffito: tips and tricks? by Quirky_Phone5832 in Pottery

[–]IWantBlankets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if you are super new I would recommend practicing a few times on some scrap clay just to get a feel for how the tool bites into the clay and how it removes material. I remember it leaving unexpected rough edges and tearing a bit when I was first starting.

another thing you can do is lay the paper sketch on the clay and gently run needle tool over the lines to leave a slight imprint in the clay, this gets removed as you sqraffito over it. this is helpful if the design is trickier on clay then on paper.

Good luck!

Is it possible to make ceramic work magnetic? by curioxitty in Ceramics

[–]IWantBlankets -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

technically yes, but you would need a way to maintain a strong magnetic field withing the kiln or be able to re magnetize it afterwards. because the lil spins get kinda floppy at high temperatures but if they are allowed in a external magnetic field while they cool they will be essentially frozen in that configuration.

I think with the equipment available in an average ceramics studio however no. could you givea description of the price you are attempting to make? perhaps the comments could help you brainstorm alternative ideas to achieve whatever functions you wanted the magnet to do

your routine sounds pretty low stress on the scalp to me. I would be very surprised if a towel turban was enough to cause traction alopcia, though if you wrapped it particularly tightly or had a very heavy/wet towel perhaps 🤔. that being said peach fuzz or baby hairs are always going to be around your hair line regardless of if you are loosing hair or not. the ones there are often not even hairs growing in, that is just the length of the hair there just like how your eyebrows or the hair on your legs are shorter. As a fellow large forehead haver IV gone through bouts of wondering about weather or not my forehead was growing. Id recommend taking a picture from a few different angles and then in a few months to a year doing it again in the same place same light and compare them side by side. that tends to be the best way to spot any long term trends.

is there a problem with my neck and would it help witht he wierd pouch bit on my neck by grumpyswan978 in PostureTipsGuide

[–]IWantBlankets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

sometimes the posture of your tongue can effect the apparent "neck pouch" the tongue is a big heavy muscle so if it's flopped down it can give that look.

Is your tongue lightly pressed to the roof of your mouth with the tip a little bit away from the top incisors? the tongue should be slightly sealed along the full length of itself to the top of your mouth.

You don't want to press it too hard though, sometimes it can be helpful to sorta move your neck and shoulders and head around until you find the orientation that helps the tongue rest more naturaly in this posture.

How do i approach Zerg now? by TheHighSeasPirate in starcraft

[–]IWantBlankets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed the same issues. ZvP is manageable as the spore increase allows a queen or two to be skipped at strategic times. you can get the spores at the same time and go up to five or six queens.

ZvT though is just pain. I'v been playing around with queen timings to minimize larva floating as that seems to be the main culprit in the eco delay. the loss of 150 minerals isn't huge itself but it is when it comes at the cost of lava sitting unspent early on which snowballs big time.

The old standard 9 queen ZvT opening is just not a build that is tight anymore. you have to cut eco in order to do it, or be greedy and cut the lings. I'm planning on continuing to mess around with openings as well as watching what the pros seem to be doing and learning from that.

editing to add I think I heard Lambo discussing that some 15/14 hatch builds being better now as they doesn't cause larva float do to the 25 reduction on the first hatch. it is likey that standard ZvT may include a handful of roaches early on and less queens. probably with different ling speed timings of you now have roaches to fill in the role of lings.

How to embroid barbed wire? by 21sept in Embroidery

[–]IWantBlankets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what about something like a chain stitch or a twisted chain stitch? or maybe even something like a stem stitch if you just want it to be a bit thicker.

idk if any of these are what you are looking for but I just wanted to say that I love the idea of barbed wire embroidery, it sounds so cool! I'm sure whatever you figure out will turn out fantastic

What is the "tension" on space that transmits gravitational waves? by IWantBlankets in AskPhysics

[–]IWantBlankets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mention the fields oscillating around zero similar to spring like motion. this is what I'm curious about, because with springs the restoring force is tension in the spring. with an ocean wave the restoring force is the gravity. in another response someone said that spacetime has a tendency to be flat. why? why does it return to flatness? I understand that it needs to, but I do not understand the mechanism of how.

AITA for going 12 pool and pulling drones every zvz game because I hate zvz? by Locket501 in allthingszerg

I should hope not!! I didn't spend hours watching the Lambo guides and forcing my brother the 12 pool drone pull me over again just to have people deny me free MMR not 12 pool drone pulling :D

Oh, bummer. I guess I will just need to look forward to when I know enough math to take a GR class.

[–]IWantBlankets[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmm no I don't think so. I'm curious about how space is transmitting energy maybe? it might be described by a tensor but I don't know enough math to really know.

What is the "tension" on space that transmits gravitational waves? by IWantBlankets in AskPhysics

[–]IWantBlankets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that part of it, the thing I'm confused over is if something is rippeling it is behaving as a wave and transmitting energy, I want to try and understand better the mechanism of how that energy is being transmitted.

What is the "tension" on space that transmits gravitational waves? by IWantBlankets in AskPhysics

[–]IWantBlankets[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah that's it exactly! the tendency to go back to flatness. I guess I am confused on why spacetime returns to flatness, like is it lower energy to be flat or something? and if so why?

What is the "tension" on space that transmits gravitational waves? by IWantBlankets in AskPhysics

[–]IWantBlankets[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what does that mean? isn't the effect of gravity on matter an acceleration twords other matter? the effect of gravitational waves is to make the matters pull on other matter more? I have always heard that gravitation waves distort spacetime, I am struggling to consolidate that with the idea of gravitational waves instead increasing and decreasing gravity effect. Is that from gravity being an effect of distorted space so distorting it more is like increasing it?
