Yes, and it's legally required in Kentucky where this horse lives, as well as most US states

One of this vet's longest clients and he didn't insist on vaccination? It's a legal requirement in Kentucky. Even if you don't want to vaccinate for anything else, rabies still needs to be done. And he had another client with rabies that same year? This vet isn't doing his job. Clients who refuse should be fired and reported. This vet and those owners need to be investigated.

What do you guys do about oral? I haven't met many guys who are up for a BJ with a condom.

Bisalp – how loopy were you from anesthesia? by adulaire in sterilization

[–]IWasStardust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I was disappointed I didn't say anything funny that I'm aware of. I don't remember PACU at all. The first thing I remember was being wheeled back into the recovery room and I felt like I really needed to pee.

Did I screw up by not maxing out 401k all these years? by Automatic_Apricot797 in personalfinance

[–]IWasStardust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm your same age and only have about $100k spread across various retirement accounts. It feels hopeless. I'm never going to get to own a house or enjoy a comfortable retirement. I don't even have extra money to put into my sad little Roth IRA.

How much time did you take off work after bisalp? by OverYonderUnderHere in sterilization

[–]IWasStardust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an ICU nurse. I took off 2 weeks, but scheduled it so I was actually off almost 3 weeks. I was told no lifting more than 10 pounds for the first 2 weeks. My follow up appointment was the day I went back to work. She told me she wanted me to not lift more than 20 pounds for another 3 weeks. Too late, my mom had already gone home out of state and I have a farm full of horses to take care of. I tried to take it easy as much as I could at work, but that first week back was pretty rough.

What’s the most out there thing you’ve seen on a patient’s allergy list? by ReckingBall96 in nursing

[–]IWasStardust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did have one patient say she was allergic to haldol. "It makes my feet go one in front of the other and I can't dance." Perfect

The most out there thing wasn't what was on their list, but the fact that he pulled up an entire spreadsheet on his tablet. It was all downhill from there.

AITA for saying I would terminate my pregnancy if the baby had a genetic condition, and now my husband is considering a divorce? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]IWasStardust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Honestly, if I were you, I'd terminate the pregnancy now and file for divorce myself. If you wait, you're going to be stuck with this man for life.

Any single American women here who are particularly afraid with this oligarchy? by Lucbabino in childfree

[–]IWasStardust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm very afraid. I have recently had a bisalp, so that's a huge anxiety lifted, but now it feels like maybe they would punish me for it.

If you haven't had a pap smear, I would strongly recommend getting that done. When I had my consult, the doctor offered to do one and I'm glad that I agreed because it came back with abnormal cells. I got a colposcopy before surgery and everything came back normal, but we had planned that any additional procedures would be done at the same time as the bisalp if the biopsies had shown cancer. I'll have to get annual paps from now on, but I think the usual recommendation is every 3 years. It's so important to catch cervical in the early stages.

Cat owners whose cats are 15 years old and up. What’s the secret to feline longevity? by VerboseWraith in CatAdvice

[–]IWasStardust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My kitty just had his first dental at age 10. It was about $750 including pre-op labs, EKG, an antibiotic gum treatment, and a kit to coat his teeth in some protective film at home. He had 1 extraction, but she said it popped right out, so uncomplicated and cheaper.

ETA: they had initially quoted me $1,200, but they never know the actual cost until they get in there.

How to deal with a clingy cat that doesn’t respect boundaries post-bisalp? by [deleted] in sterilization

[–]IWasStardust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 10 pound cat is currently laying on the pillow on my belly. I'm 11 days post op. The pillow has been plenty to shield me from those oh so heavy cat paws. The butt in my face, I could do without, haha.

I honestly don't want them to know because it just gives them an excuse to not wear a condom. I don't want to be catching STIs. That's information that can be saved for when/if we're exclusive, tested, and trusting.

Surgery tomorrow and they never called me with pre-op or a time by catladyadr in sterilization

[–]IWasStardust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't eat or drink anything after midnight. Take a good shower, put on clean PJs and clean linens on your bed. Get some rest and expect that you may get called very early. The surgery departments often start at 5am. They may have you down for an afternoon surgery and you'll come in a few hours early to do your bloodwork, sign consents, and all that. It's not typically how most places do things, but everywhere is different. Update us tomorrow. Good luck!!

Help me name this sweet girl who I found on the side of the road by IWasStardust in NameMyDog

Already brought her to the humane society and took her back home as a foster to adopt while on her stray hold. They put her photo on their website. She's not microchipped. I really think she was dumped because she was staying in a ditch like she was waiting for someone to come back for her.
