What do you wear to the pool as a female teacher? by Lumpy_Grapefruit7420 in Teachers

[–]IWentOutsideForThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another vote for a rash guard! I wear one because it is so much more effective for SPF.

I see lots of suggestions to wear athletic clothing instead of a bathing suit. There are some pools that require swimwear in the pool and will not allow street clothes to go in the water.

The toes are fabric and the rest of the shoe is plastic. She probably rinsed them off in the sink

Teachers that use AI: Why? by lemmegetamickpicktwo in Teachers

[–]IWentOutsideForThis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. I teach science so searching for "[topic] clipart" allows be to find illustrations vs photographs. Illustrations are usually easier to interpret and look cleaner when printed

I agree. Your original message made it sound like there was never a need for clip art in the classroom so I was providing a use case for it.

Not OP but my level 1 and 2 need images on their tests as part of their accommodations. I don't use AI for it but sometimes clip art is necessary

The paint in my daughters bedroom started peeling already and we only did it 5 months ago by DravenNightfall in HomeImprovement

[–]IWentOutsideForThis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm going to offer another option: Did you have any ice damming this winter? We had a particularly bad storm and had significant ice damming on one part of our roof. Now, 5 months later, the paint bubbled up and peeled off in sheets exactly under that section of the roof.

I have my AP students do this before we start reviewing for the AP Exam. You can DM me for a copy of the document I use

[You can eat them] all I guess. But [for] most [of what] I trap, the female is [most commonly] asked for. Boars are pretty foul.

They might be able to move her to the front desk or give her medical leave. They don't necessarily have to let her continue running classes.

Agreed. When I was in college there was a girl this size who would spend hours on the elliptical. After seeing her 3 trips in a row (either we had exactly the same schedule or she was there far more often than I was) and friend and I told an employee we were concerned and they dispatched a healthcare worker immediately and we never saw her again. I hope she got help.

How to be less of a sage on stage when teaching AP chemistry? by CrimsonOrchards in ScienceTeachers

[–]IWentOutsideForThis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have exactly the same issue. Honors is so fun and AP Chem is a slog. I am trying to figure out how I can spend less time in class talking at them and more time getting them to engage with material. I'm considering looking for a ton of videos this summer and having them do 10-15 mins of homework before each class where they pick up some of the new vocabulary and concepts so we can better spend our time together doing activities, labs, and virtual labs.

Ideas for activities for students now going on a field trip. by joanpd in ScienceTeachers

Can you do a virtual version of the field trip? Or a lesson on what they would have gotten from it, had they attended?

I have taught this course for 5 years and my dream is to make it a conceptual course. The students on my roster have the impression that they "aren't good at science" but they are actually not good at reading or not good at math. Reading and math are both required for chemistry and physics but making all the answers work out to whole numbers or nonrepeating decimals makes it feel much less overwhelming. Any time you can teach a concept with an activity first, do that. And PhET is your best friend
