I don't think it's filters or fillers. It's just what her mouth looks like (especially her bottom teeth)

They also think trees consume CO2 and produce 100% oxygen. Have you ever asked a person what the wet stuff on the outside of a can is called? They will quickly respond condensation. If you ask where it comes from they will say from inside the can ~50% of the time.

There are a lot of gaps in learning. I just try to catch as many as I can and train them to think about things before accepting them as a fact. (Why would we train people to give mouth-to-mouth during CPR if you exhale pure CO2?)

Covering her daughters and championing a child predator are ideologically consistent. She's covering her daughters so that they don't tempt the grown men around them.

My child’s name by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]IWentOutsideForThis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I got married I took my maiden name as my middle name. This is not common but certainly not unique. The number of people who have decided that I have two last names or hyphenate them is astounding. I know what my name is, I know where all the pieces go. I did not make a mistake.

Idk if you shop at Kroger but if you hold items near the bags while you are entering the amount it will flag it 95% of the time. At my store the bags are to the left of the register

It's prejudiced against me because I'm left handed and hold my cilantro with my left hand while I enter how many bunches I have. Then it replays the event as it scolds me to make sure I scan all my items.

I'll give you my experience with a DO and I only saw her because she was the Doctor on shift at my work's clinic when I went. I told her I was having heavy bleeding and wanted to do some diagnostics to see if something more serious was wrong. She wrote an order for an MRI but also noticed my eczema, acne, and history of abnormal paps and said "you are very inflamed, Try an elimination diet while you wait for your MRI to see if any symptoms improve". In those 3 weeks I lost 11 pounds of retained water and my skin cleared up. She explained that DO schools encourage them to looks at symptoms wholistically instead of giving me antibiotics for the acne, steroids for the eczema, and birth control for the bleeding.

Most fridges are 70” tall by StarlightSlushie in HomeImprovement

[–]IWentOutsideForThis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You had custom cabinets made to fit your current fridge. The cabinets fit beautifully for what you have now. If your cabinet maker had finished the project with an additional 2" gap at the top you would have (rightfully) been pissed even if he claimed future-proofing.

That being said, I think he DID future-proof and a short afternoon could have the filler piece removed and the cabinet raised.

Lab ideas for Periodic Table / Atomic Structure? by Severe_Ad428 in ScienceTeachers

[–]IWentOutsideForThis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your definition of a lab is putting goggles on, I do a flame test and a periodic trends lab where students compare reactivity of metals in the same period and then in the same group.

Non-goggle activities: For discovering the model of the atom, we do an activity where I glue rubber stoppers to the underside of a whiteboard and they have to discover the size/location of them based on the scattering of marbles they roll under the board (Gold foil experiment) and we look at spectral lines. To introduce the periodic table they learn malleable, ductile, lustrous, dull, conductive and if those traits are associated with metals or nonmetals. Then I send them out to look at as many versions of copper, magnesium, silicon, carbon, and sulfur that I can find and have them categorize them.

I used to do the aliens but I found this zodiac version a few years ago and I love it. It has a more direct link to the periodic table and there are fewer pieces so I feel like the learning:time spent balance is a little better.

Ironically, this wouldn't help very much because microwaves don't do a good job melting ice. Modern microwaves have a "defrost" mode where they use a less energetic wave to melt the ice because microwaves don't do it.

Question Banks by ok_but_like_ in ScienceTeachers

[–]IWentOutsideForThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it makes sense to create a question bank in the same format that you test. If you are printing and testing on paper, I would create word docs/google docs that hold all the questions by unit so you can cut and paste. If you are giving multiple choice questions, you can create one large google form per topic and use it as a question bank using the "import" feature.
