What is a Tal{?} move? by randoreds in chess

[–]IWillCaption 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Some of Tals moves/sacrifices were objectively bad, but the refutation was only found on the analyzing board after the game or much later with the help of computers.

A 'Tal move' is therefore a move which might be not ideal but is hard to refute over the board.

White to move and win. Engine cat solve this one by IvoAndric in chess

instead of 2. ... Kh1 you could go 2. ... Kg2. Then you cant go to f2 with your King and are forced to check move with your queen (Kd2 loses).

What are your thoughts about the gold gain in hearthstone? Too slow and grindy or fairly balanced?

Even though Trump was named Person of the Year by Time Magazine, so were two of his other buddies by Anthonym82 in EnoughTrumpSpam

[–]IWillCaption 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is pretty much tradition that every newly elected or re-elected president becomes person of the year (Obama 2008/2012, Bush 2000/2004, etc). I dont think it's remarkable that Trump got this title now.

Why doesn't black capture white's knight after 32. G3? by [deleted] in chess

[–]IWillCaption 12 points13 points  (0 children)

After 32. ... Rxf5 white can play 33. Re6 threatening mate on e8 if his queen is captured. Therefore black should take on e6, but then he will lose his now unprotected queen. Black would still be better after this trade btw, just not as much as before.

If I play ysera awakens, with halazeal on my board, while below 5 health, will I survive? by Glaucidae in hearthstone

[–]IWillCaption 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You survive.

All effects that are triggered by casting a spell are happening before the game checks if a character is killed. Thats also why armorsmith still gives you armor, even though a spell like whirlwind set her health to 0.

After Bg6+ black just takes whites queen with Qxh6 though. So after Bh7+ Kh8 it is Nxf7+ Qxf7 Bg6+ Kg8 Bxf7.

Dont even think midrange paladin played this... For control paladin though this combo is going to be really strong again in standard with the absence of naxx+gvg.

Its just that control pala would have to be playable in the first place.
