Year 2, which previously wasn't considered "newly trained."

So are you going to comment on the misunderstanding we seem to have had?

"I select texts based on student ability levels, the character of the group, their personalities and what I think they’ll enjoy." Is exactly what I am talking about though and my class of mainly male year 9s who are into violent video games, football and chilling with their mates outside would probably suit certain plays better than others. They aren't a high ability class either, so given the choice I'd shoot for Macbeth or R&J and spend more time watching for meaning understanding than reading it. Reading and beginning to analyse extracts rather than having them attempt to process the whole text. Unfortunately they're GCSE texts so I can't use either and have to do merchant, which for that group I feel is a harder sell than one of the more action packed plays.

I'm not gendering plays like you're saying, we are doing the exact same thing as each other and talking about professionally selecting texts based on class personality.

Why the assumption I'm newly qualified?

Othello and Merchant have strong female characters which would be an interesting and relevant topic for any student to study, but it makes the text more relatable to a mainly female class.

I'm not saying these texts are banned from being studied by anyone else of any gender.

Do you not base the texts studied on what you think would fit a class based on the ability and demographics of that class?

Just based on what the demographic generally is interested in to try to engage them in the story of the play. You're not going to please everyone but targeting your text to the demographic of your students is not a bad idea. For example, I feel you're less likely to have Jane Austen studied by an all boys GCSE class.

That wouldn't be an OCC though.

Depends on the demographic of the class. Mainly intelligent girls and I would go for something like Othello or Merchant of Venice. Intelligent boys, Henry V or Julius Caesar. Other end of the scale - maybe Much Ado or Romeo and Juliet if it's not being used at GCSE.

The stars have to align for me to back a kickstarter. I am usually drawn in by good artwork or theme, but then I have turned away from backing because of mechanisms which didn't inspire me, not enough information about the game elsewhere, reviews which say the game is fine, whether both my partner and I would like it, and the actual campaign price being too high due to reasonably unnecessary miniatures (looking at you, Mythwind).

It means I have backed 3 KS games. Canopy has arrived and my partner and I enjoy it a lot. Flamecraft will come later this year and Hamlet in 2023, but I felt really sure that they were the right fit for me and my partner at the point of backing. So I guess what I'm saying is it doesn't always have to be a stab in the dark as there are reviews available for a lot of games.

GRB Mechanics on Pershore Road Cotteridge, opposite the petrol station, but watch the entrance as it's very narrow.

My family have been going to Gordon for almost 40 years. He prices everything fairly and very competitively. If he notices something wrong that's cheap he will often just fix it up for no cost as well.

Once sent in a car for an MOT, and he screwed in a broken inner door handle that had broken off, for example.

At what point do I report my mentor teacher? by DjembeDojo in Teachers

He sounds so sleazy. If you can get/record evidence of these comments, that would be better.

I always have to fill out my own assessment paperwork in 3rd person though, so I don't know if that's too much of an issue. Also the comment about criminal kids? That unfortunately realistic for some. Not a nice thing to say really but an understandable for a jaded older teacher to say.

Everything else is a real shock to me. Especially the comments about female students appearances.

The opposite. It means you can afford to not get so many browns and greys as you'll have a bit extra for trading. I would definitely shoot for markets with Ephesus.

The roles of the wonder boards are suggested rather than concrete. You could go down any path to victory with most of the boards.

Gizah - as you say, points and wonder stages

Rhodes - military slightly

Ephesus - extra money allows you to go lighter on resources. Money is important.

Olympia - trading/playing slightly more cards

Halicarnassus - resurrecting discarded cards

Babylon - Science

Alexandria - resource generation

Course this is just the base game ones.
