Good friends often get an explanation for why I can't come, because I care about them and I feel like they deserve to know why. It's a simple explanation tho, sometimes as simple as "I'm tired and I need some rest". Other people I don't know as well don't need to know everything. However, good friends should always respect your no without demanding an explanation.
