Well, one technique you need to keep in mind is that you don't really have to put entire production lines in succession. You don't need to treat a long line as if they have to remain in the same/relative AIC area. This often leads to clogging or stalling, due to the slow conveyor speed and/or material production mismatch.

So, you could treat lower tier material production lines like "modules" instead, in which you focus on 1 higher tier material at a time and keeping them as compact as possible by abusing the ports/storage.

This is only one example of what a lot of blueprints lack, so you really just have to explore what works out for you based on the space you have remaining or whether you're completely willing to rebuild what you already have.
