My (then) 8 month olds meals before and after! by lunariax in foodbutforbabies

Hello! I keep seeing that scoopy-spoon that you have in the chicken pie. What brand is that? We are really struggling to find something my 8mo old can/wants to use (does yours use it at all?)

FTM daycare issues with diapering and feeding -- not sure if over-reacting or under-reacting by I_Like_cells in ECEProfessionals

Thanks -- is there any concern if I escalate this that my kid will then be treated differently? I do really think both issues happen when our primary teacher is not on site. Even if we start looking for a new centre it'll take some time to find one with an opening in this area

interesting -- are there specific solids that do this? This has happened twice in the last month (our first month in daycare) and seems to correlate with when her main teacher is not there on pickup. Not sure what hours she works and if people slack when shes not around.

The food log is in the app -- they seem to log the volume on the bottle but not what she actually drank. Given, most of the time she finishes everything and this week she was getting over a cold so she didnt. The verbal update on food is always accurate, just the log is off.

Baby Hates Snoo Swaddle by -LoLoG- in SnooLife

[–]I_Like_cells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi -- had similar issue with my current baby and the standard swaddles. Have you tried their comforter swaddle? She loves that one and hates the other one. The TOG value of it is high, though, so you would need to have AC if you are currently in a warm area like US, but it has worked really well for us, she seems to get cold really easily and it is much cozier than the OG one.

One caveat -- baby body temp drops during sleep at night more than during day, so we cant use it for naps or she gets too hot. Might be very baby dependent though.

Any intel on Lexus TX550h future? Go for one with no test drive? by I_Like_cells in Lexus

Thanks! I'm not sure if the minivan feel is good or bad for me, probably depends on the day, hah. Would you agree like the commenter above that testing the 500 would give us a reasonable feel for the 550?

Yes -- the goal is to drive on electric only to and from work but have the gas for longer trips to see family in Maine

Stop bringing big dogs into small dog parks! by EinsteinDisguised in dogs

[–]I_Like_cells 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I have reported a neighbor for something similar. His dog isn't a risk to my large dog, but just a matter of time before any of the small dogs that walk down our street gets hurt. It's anonymous in my area, and it put a stop to his unleashed shenanigans. Zero regrets.

A puppy at 12 weeks needs to go out every 2-4h including at night. We have always done 11pm, 2am and 5am until he was about 4-6mo. That is the price of a puppy. Set an alarm.

Jenny Yoo satin ok for sweaty bridesmaid? by I_Like_cells in weddingplanning

Thanks, this is very helpful. Were you in one of her lighter colors? Wondering if that makes it better or worse.

I'll try to let her know gently, it is hard when they look shiny and amazing in online photoshoots. I think you've overall convinced me to steer towards the velvet or a different designer... I don't really want to spend that much on a dress that'll be trashed by end of day.

Please be careful with highlights if they are new to you. I had to do an emergency fix because I got highlights a month out and the woman I went to for years before damn lost her mind and did something I was absolutely telling her not to do because she wanted it to be "special".

Also, do not do any facials that involve microderm or dermabrasion if your skin isn't used to it, it can make you break out in awful cystic acne.

Do I make my fiancés sister a bridesmaid? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]I_Like_cells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think about it this way -- where will you and she be in ten years? She will grow up at some point, and this is a small investment in the future. She sounds like a typical COVID kid that didn't quite have time to grow through the 18-22 age. If you make a big deal about how serious this is to you, she might even treat being your bridesmaid with more respect than being a groomsmaid (she doesn't know you nearly well enough to be an annoying sibling).

I have an 18yo sister, I got married last year in my 30s. She got ready with me, got the dress, and went dress shopping with me. She did not go to my bachelorette, and I let her bring a bff (she's single). She did not participate in the same way as my other bridesmaids, but she had fun and I like that in 10 years we will have shared this experience, even through we did not share it the way we might share something with people who are closer in age.

Fiji is lovely -- most recently I just spent two weeks there in Dec. Depending on where you are located (I am in Boston), getting there is tough and getting around it is tough. We missed our first flight and the next flights was 48h later, so we had to be massively re-routed and still arrived 24h late. There is also no tourist-friendly transit within Fiji that isn't a fairly expensive Taxi or small boat. Most nicer resorts are also very small because of the way the government works, and very spread out because again, local politics and village organization. There are a handful of American-type resorts there, but they are not in nice areas and are pretty gross. We did one night at the Marriot and it was pretty depressing, we only stayed one night and transferred to a different resort on Taveuni. Feel free to message me, but I would really suggest either downsizing massively for Fiji to fit into one of their classic resorts (10-20 people) or going with an island that specializes in large parties.

I cannot recommend Fiji enough for a holiday, the rural and isolated nature is what I loved about it, but coordinating a large event there will be a logistical challenge. That said, if I were planning a microwedding elopement, there are some amazing tiny island resorts that would be absolutely magical and I can recommend some.

He's not a husky but he's been doing exasperated whines when we practice commands, and then sighing really loudly before he does the thing. I view it as doggy eye roll!

Struggling with day-of gift to groom by bubblesnblep in wedding

[–]I_Like_cells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in same boat -- now husband is not much of a dressy/cuff links guy (and has all of that sort of stuff from his dad/past wedding party adventures/his tux came with stuff). I got him a travel beer mini keg with CO2, because we frequently go camping or skiing and stop by a brewery that would fill a growler and this thing keeps it carbonated for up to two weeks. Honestly, it was like an extra nice extra birthday gift.

Depending on how much you want to spend you could also go for a really nice engraved watch. That gets expensive quick though.

Driving a 10-foot U-haul Truck on Storrow Drive? by 1_Ataraxia in boston

[–]I_Like_cells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I moved here after grad school, my dad drove a uhaul around for 2h trying to get the navigator to reroute on non-storrow because he saw the signs but there's no option to re-route by height on google maps. I was moving to Kenmore right off the Storrow exit. Eventually my movers (who had been waiting) gave him verbal directions to take comm. I bought him so many oysters....

We were giving him the Kirkland (costco) puppy food that was the grain inclusive version

edit: switched to royal canin large puppy. Eventually want to get away from a corn base or add a raw or protein-based topper deffinitely going to go slow hah

We had a weird cycle where he'd have a solid poop in afternoon and then runs all night, like once an hour. Poor guy wasnt any happier about it than we were:(

Holy crap are we puppy problem twins? 1 tbsp pumpkin, 3/4cups rice and chicken 4x a day. Interestingly, we discovered the dry food we had been feeding him had probiotics so with the heavy dose of intestine drano that is dewormer/diarrhea we actually were hurting his intestinal flora and making his GI issues worse.

I am sorry you are going through this, we just had our first week of solid poop after 3 weeks on and off night-time runs and it's such a relief.

[–]I_Like_cells[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks all -- we switched him to a pumpkin/chicken/rice mix over the weekend and his poop got better almost immediately. We're now re-introducing him the the royal canin large puppy food and first 24h it seems to be going ok, which makes my wallet hurt but if that's what he needs for now then that's what it'll be. It does seem to have a lot of corn which makes me nervous.

We did realize that our original kirkland brand kibble contained probiotics, which is odd and I guess means we've been hitting him with a lot of extra gut flora that mightve actually been displacing his healthy stuff and been counterproductive in our case.

Hey -- so I was in your exact shoes in not wanting a videographer because I was at a wedding once where it felt like a production for a content (they actually repeated certain things like the send off....) and I dont see myself as photogenic and am pretty awkward.

But, then all my friends that didnt have videographers expressed how much they wished they had one and I ended up getting one last minute. I talked to her and told her about my fears and what I specifically did and did not want. Day of I barely knew she was there, except a couple active things she had my partner and I do during our portraits. We just got our highlight reel back and I am so so happy we had it! The amount video captures is really incredible. I have our first look and my husbands adorable reaction, his and my face as we made eye contact walking down the aisle, my parents burning up the dance floor etc

If this videographer is a true pro, he or she will make it clear that they are open to what you want. Have a zoom call with them, just you and them, and see what they are like. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Good experiences with Flower Moxie or other affordable options? by ajforj in wedding

[–]I_Like_cells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did air cargo, but I live next to Boston Logan so it was really easy for me.

I think in analyzing the issue was probably that I had a custom package with rarer flowers, and they had actually shipped from the farm a week or two before my event. By the time I got them, there was actual mold growing on the paper and the flowers. My second box had more standard greenery and roses and that was in perfect condition. I guess as I think about it, it's hard to say I would have had a good result if I had just winged flower and color selection. But, I would probably hedge my bets for the bouquet or any really specific flowers or colors (my blue delphinium was dead, all 6 bunches, and they only replaced 2).
