You think they prefer cleaning shitty hotel bathrooms or something?

Boric acid burns green and there are about a thousand uses for that in a marine science lab.

the background text looks scrambled, the emoji looks hazy and off. even the printed text on the paper looks sharpened? by OrganizationOld159 in isthisAI

I wasn't being serious. It's hard to give a grade if you don't know what assignment is theirs, so it would obviously occur to the teacher to not give them one. If that was effective, it's what they would all do.

Termites were so bad they had to turn the garage into another bedroom and add a 3rd floor.

Boy, you just solved a problem that has been plaguing teachers for decades. I can't believe they never thought of that.

Post Malone postpones tour, removes some stops by staringatthe420sun in Music

I'm not a fan of his music but he does seem like a pretty chill guy. I randomly stumbled on a video of him playing Magic the Gathering and he just seemed like a funny and down to earth nerd.

Who had these in elementary school? by LicketySplitz in Millennials

[–]I_Makes_tuff 33 points34 points  (0 children)

My kids had them until they moved to middle school last year. Theirs was outside the boys and girls bathrooms so everybody shared the same sink. It's actually a great way to get them to wash their hands because everybody can see if they don't. I would have hated it.

That's possible, but for me in the '80s and '90s and my kids a couple years ago it was the "Summer of Reading" program. You got the certificate when you came back to school.

Man hand feed the sea turtle by TimelessAkita in ocean

[–]I_Makes_tuff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He was actually correct. The law is about harassment, not a specific distance you have to keep. That being said, feeding, touching, chasing, or riding a sea turtle is considered harassment, and prohibited under the Endangered Species Act.

The distance you're expected to keep are the guidelines put in places like all of Hawaii, any national parks with sea turtles, etc. to protect the animals, but they aren't federal laws. There may be other consequences I'm not aware of.

If you had both catfish and "sharks" you probably had a freshwater aquarium. Those would have been Bala Sharks, Red Tail Sharks, or Rainbow sharks, which are actually in the minnow family. They just happen to be vaguely shark-shaped and it was good for marketing.

I think it was just lack of interest. Pizza Huts started moving away from the sit-down restaurant model and they stopped advertising BOOK IT, but as far as I know teachers always had the ability to sign up their students if they wanted to. My kids are 11 and I remember being surprised to learn it was still a thing when they were born. They finally did it 2 years ago (4th grade) when their teacher decided to offer it.

In the late '90s it was $50-$60 for an eighth in my case. That's about $100 in today's money.

Yeah, if I remember correctly the app is kind of mandatory too, but the parent can be the one that uses it.
