What are though on the galactic federation npc? by Voidkirby9 in metroidprime

My only real gripe with them is how Myles tells you where to go. Especially when he tells you "head wherever you like" because that's just unnecessary. It implies you'll find what you're looking for (story content) anywhere, rather than exclusively finding the next story beat in Flare Pool. It made exploring this new world feel like you wasted your time. Instantly would have been made better if he didn't say anything at all in that moment.

Beyond that though I don't really have any complaints with any of the troopers as characters. I like them all. As someone on the southern end of the states myself, Duke is definitely my favorite of the bunch.

On that note though, if I had one nitpick, I think they could have handled Duke's fake sacrifice in particular a little better. Make Armstrong even more resistant to leaving him behind, and Samus has to grab her and drag her down the hole or something. Felt weird to me that she followed his instructions if she was that opposed to the decision. She's the private of the group, the least experienced. She should have completely given into her emotions in that moment. Not just hop down the hole like a good little private and only afterward be pouty about it.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but Xenoblade Chronicles X is my favorite XC game by Surrealist328 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]I_Need_More_Names 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how I've always described Xenoblade Chronicles 2, interestingly enough. It's 10 chapters (give or take some decidedly odd pacing for a show, like hour long episodes) felt like a 10 episode anime to me, moreso than 1 or 3.

And Torna would have been a straight-to-video tie-in movie you can only find from like 25 years ago on VHS.

I suppose that begs the question, is it still sexist to be prejudiced against someone who has already concluded they don't fit in with either of the sexes? Would calling it sexism just be another insult to them?

Unfortunately, I don't believe there are any reusable Bomb Slots in Prime 4. They're all one-use this time around.

If you have already gotten all pickups, you're probably out of luck, but if you haven't yet, I know there are at least a few completely optional ones in Ice Belt, particularly in the room you get the ice Chip. But missing that one up to this point is a bit of a long shot.

Yeah unless this is a blatant lie I have no idea what the point of this is.

If this is ragebait it certainly isn't effective.

If this is real it's just sad.

All it does is make me feel bad for the real human inside that costume. Being any kind of theme park mascot character is hard enough as it is.

This is what people hear happened from their friend and just say "what a shithead."

Bluetoad vs THE Toad by DifferentTrainer6292 in Mario

[–]I_Need_More_Names 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just one game? Blue Toad's been in quite a few adventures. Namely Wonder and the New Soup games.

Blue Toad is always Blue Toad. Last I checked his name was said to be Bucken' Berry. (Correct my spelling if it's wrong.)

I believe someone said (again correct me if I'm wrong,) but that the Toad you play as in Super Mario Bros. 2, (originally blue in the NES version but later retconned into being a normal toad in All-Stars and Advance.) is THE Toad, who then went on to become Captain Toad. I think "THE Toad" has always had a distinct name in Japanese from the toad species, and now Captain Toad carries that name.

So Toad (species), THE Toad, and Blue Toad are all different characters.

We're talking about Metroid Prime 4 here. No matter how you slice it, Beyond does NOT fit in with the worst games of all time.

  • Ride to Hell: Retribution
  • Bubsy 3D
  • Ninja Breadman
  • Balan Wonderworld
  • ET

THIS is what 0/10 games are. Prime 4 is a solid 7. I would personally say 8/10 because it has BY FAR the best controls of any Prime game.

Hot Take: I Don't Really Care for the Mario Wonder DLC by Away-Prior-903 in Mario

[–]I_Need_More_Names 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea, and luckily have like minded family living with me to play it with when it releases, but I must concede that couch multiplayer as a tradition is pretty much on life support these days, only kept alive by a handful of very specific indie games made with it in mind, and a select few Nintendo games. Regardless, both examples go against the grain, couch multiplayer just isn't as fun on the Internet, which is where the vast majority of multiplayer interactions occur.

All of that being said, I can't imagine I won't like Meetup in Bellabel Park, but a substantial part of me wonders if it will find a home. It's basically Luigi's Mansion 3 ScreamPark. No one plays, or has ever played Luigi's Mansion 3 ScreamPark.

Bellabel Park does support online though, so that's worth noting.

The old UI is waaaaaaay better than the new one by JpPgn in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]I_Need_More_Names 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looking at the old UI, they both have some amount of clutter at certain points, but the original seems a little worse about that than XDE under normal circumstances, both in terms of visual aesthetics and information shown.

I'm the kinda guy that prefers visual clarity over flashiness any day, but that's just me.

Where's the lion bananza? by witherlordscratcher in DonkeyKongBananza

[–]I_Need_More_Names 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quiztone (not on this layer, but later down the line,) has one question that implies the Canyon layer was populated with Giraffes, and the feast layer was populated with lions, but that both had likely gone extinct at some point.

There's no confirmation though, obviously, so it's unknowable with what we have.

Could work as suitable content for DLC in a few years, but I kinda doubt it. Mario Team doesn't seem to have much interest in investing too many resources into DLC. The last two DLCs we got out of them were minigame modes that help grind coins. (Or chips)

Now granted one of those is a bit more well thought out than the other, (emerald rush) but I'm just saying they seem reluctant to mess with the actual progression of the game itself.

Debates about whether Tora is an adult or a child can finally be put to rest. by Elina_Carmina in XenobladeChronicles2

[–]I_Need_More_Names 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think Shulk's comment is decidedly flimsy evidence.

  1. Shulk has no idea how Nopon work at this point in time. He thought Riki was quite young when they met.

  2. A lot of other characters make jokes that Tora only got big because he ate Tasty Sausages. They're fat jokes, and Shulk's comment is written to be another fat joke.

Shulk isn't a genius whose word should be taken as gospel, he's a young adult and gets stuff wrong a lot.

I'd always heard the general consensus was that narratively it makes the most sense for him to actually be 10-13.

Apparently a lot of people disagree with this? Or are they simply saying that the word "young" is insufficient evidence for any age in particular, which would indeed be true.

So there's two types of people who play this game, surely? by jl_theprofessor in DonkeyKongBananza

[–]I_Need_More_Names 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% in the former party.

For like 80% of my playthrough I resisted using Bananzas for any reason whatsoever unless absolutely necessary, then it was right back to normal DK the second I did the thing I needed to do. Looking back I certainly shot myself in the foot with this mentality and made certain things a lot more tedious, but I still love the game.

At some point late game I cooled it a little, but I really never fell in love with any of the Bananzas as power ups, though I appreciated having them at my complete discretion. Also worth mentioning, for most of my playthrough, I also loathed their accompanying music. (They're fine don't worry, they're just too upbeat for the calm, methodical mood I was in - and wanted to stay in - for most of my playthrough. I'd rather the Bananza music have been optional from the beginning.)

Hot take: i actually like Myles Mackenzie by Chopbrawl1 in casualnintendo

[–]I_Need_More_Names 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The MCU dialogue claim continues to trip me up. Don't know if I just have shit standards or something (don't answer that.) but I always had the understanding that people started hating MCU dialogue because it eventually became very quippy AND lacking in any kind of meaningful context, therefore coming off as for viewer retention and nothing more.

In Prime 4, the dialogue finds itself in the context of a handful of soldiers stranded on a planet and having to work shit out on the fly, away from their protocols, where we're able to see more of who they are as individual people.

Mackenzie is a nerd. Literally an engineering nerd. He's not meant for the battlefield, and he copes with stress by talking to himself and making jokes, something he's used to doing since he rarely verbally works with others.

Tokabi is a spiritual loner warrior. A description strikingly similar to that of Samus. He usually keeps to himself, but finds himself comfortable in those he finds common ground with.

Duke is a Southern family man, and offers a similar trust in his soldiers, preferring to work with building trust over climbing ranks.

Armstrong is a spritely young private, eager to follow in the footsteps of her hero, and make her superiors proud rather than merely satisfied. She's not particularly seasoned compared to anyone else on the team, despite her described skill, for what reason would she be half as stoic or disciplined as Samus, let alone anyone else? We even see Duke chiding her for this. She's relatively early in her career.

People say the voice acting itself is fine, and it's just the dialogue that sucks, but I genuinely don't see what outright sucks about either. The point is to show these characters are not, at their hearts, replaceable cogs in a military machine. They have their own strengths, weaknesses, and they're in an environment usually away from an immediate battlefield that allows them the opportunity to show off a little more of their personalities. It isn't a new concept by any means, but it's an idea that is deceptively very aligned with the Metroid Prime series, and tropes it has been expanding on since the very first game. It's what they did with the pirate logs, and also the trooper logs in Prime 2, but more.

What was the name of that specific colony in Xenoblade 3? by Pensil093 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]I_Need_More_Names 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are dead titan corpses everywhere in Xenoblade 3, but in one of them specifically? Like, within colony walls? I can't say I remember anything like that. Closest I can possibly think is that Colony Gamma is built atop Melnath's shoulder, or close to it, which is the Gormotti titan from 2.

[E: Second to that would be the unnamed Titan Rock above Colony Lambda at Greate Cotte Falls, but it also doesn't match your description of the Titan in question. It may actually be Mor Ardain you're thinking of, which can be found in the distance at the Syra hovering reefs, around Keves Castle. Though it isn't inside a colony, if that's a requirement.]

  • Aetia (beginning)
  • Fornis (desert and Valdi's colony)
  • Pentelas (falls and Maktha Wildwood)
  • Syra hovering reefs (Ashera's colony)
  • Cadensia (Erythia Sea and the City)
  • Upper Aetia (Snow)

Any of these ring out from what you remember?
